Hi, this is my FINAL (no really, this time really is the last XD) patch to play Outcast at 640x480 fullscreen.
Since the game isn't supposed to run at this resolution some problems appear
This version is stable and some of the principal aesthetic problems have been fixed. Of course there are still little aesthetic things here and there but I think now we are able to play at this resolution without many problems
One thing that I wasn't able to completely fix though, is the loading screen when you travel, It appears... well.. please look a the screenshot:
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y175/zenger/TRAVEL.jpg
But, oh well, It's a loading screen that appears only a few seconds when you travel, so, although ugly, I think It doesn't affect the experience of the game
You can see some screenshot before and after this last patch

There are two versions of the patch, one with the main visor or rectangle, and another without the visor, you can see the direference in this screenshots. That's the only difference.

thanks for your efforts!
edit: just tried it and It works just as good as the unpatched version. GOG should really have a look at this and ship it in an update to the official release.

evilguy12: How do I go about removing the previous patch?

Hi, all the patches have two buttons, one to apply the patch and one to remove it
-----------------------------------------
To remove the previous patch:
-----------------------------------------
-Run the old patch again (PATCH640v2.exe) in the game directory, and click the button remove patch (if you have deleted the executable of the patch just copy it again to the game directory, run it, and click remove patch)
-Then you can delete the file of the patch (PATCH640v2.exe) if you want to avoid confusion with the file of the new patch
-----------------------------------------
To install the new patch
-----------------------------------------
-Copy the three files of the new patch to the game directory:
PATCH640v3.exe
PRESENTATION640.PAK
EFFECTS640.PAK
- Overwrite the last two files (PRESENTATION640.PAK, EFFECTS640.PAK) when asked (don't worry, these files aren't from the original game, they are only part of the patches)
- Run the new patch and click APPLY PATCH
I hope that helps
Kind regards

Hi, I installed the patch (the no visor version) over a clean install of GoG's version of Outcast. It crashed in the water in Ranzaar, with WinXP telling oc3.exe was the culprit. I'll update this message if it happens again, and give more information about the error.
Dear god you are wonderful!
I had no problems with running the game fullscreen with the (rather stupid in my opinion) 512x384 resolution (or whatever strange numbers they are) but letting it run in 640x480 makes the game just so much more beautiful.
In these lower resolutions, just a few pixels more really does make a difference.
Thank you very much!
PS: I really like the no-visor-version.

It will. As noted, sometimes it is unavailable for brief periods. So try again soon.
thanks for replying, but I've been trying for at least 4 hours now

Sorry to hear that.
You can get it temporarily from here (hopefully you prefer no visor):
