Anyone get EAX working?
I've got an X-Fi card and I'm on Vista. I added an ALchemy profile for Outcast and it makes the 3D Sound and EAX options appear in the launcher.
However, turning them on doesn't appear to have any affect in game. I very distinctly remember from when I originally played Outcast back in the day, that with EAX turned on you get a noticable reverb effect on voices and sound effects while indoors. When you know the difference it's immediately apparent whether it's on or off - and it definitely sounds like it's still off.
I'm not sure if the ALchemy settings would need to be tweaked though, I left them at the defaults (Buffers=4,Duration=25, MaxVoiceCount=128).
Not a big loss since EAX was always buggy in Outcast anyway. I remember that certain sound slike the barrier hum in Shamazaar and the annoying flutists in the city would get "stuck" playing even when you weren't near them and would cause all other sounds to drop out until you went to a new zone. Still, I was just curious to see if we could get it working.
