hey guys, new here..
i was wondering if there is any way to remove the music. or atleat MUTE it.
permenatly.

i really dislike playing games with such. music. ita distracting..

i tried editing the outcast.ini file. and even set it as read only.
but it keeps getting overriden. and newly made.
with music at full blast.

any ideas? or answers for this?
thanks :)
In the game options before game start you can choose a parameter: "Mix CD <-> sfx". Adjust the settings until the music is mute.

I hope this helps
I believe there is also a volume control in-game to adjust music and SFX, but it may have just been a weird kind of "mix" setting which controls the relative levels of music and sound effects. I remember I had to adjust this each time I started the game because the music was too loud initially. But it may not be able to mute the music entirely.
ah but.. there is lies the problem
i knew of both features before.
and neither do what i want it to..

i can either have music With fx. or nothing at all.
i cant for some reason. just remove the music
while still having the UI / women talk, spotting ammo and that, and hearing the gun shoot.
Etc..
Then I`d go into Windows-Explorer and delete all files in \Outcast\Data\OCMUSIC or just rename the folder or move the files elsewhere (in case you want to keep them, which I recomment).

If you get an can`t find file error and the game makes problems, I`d make a mute file and place it in the corresponding directories.

Not an ingame tweak, but should do I hope.

I just experimented as I needed the same thing: disabling the folder prevents the game from running (CTD), therefore all files within need to be replaced by mute files (empty files ?) instead.
