Is it possible to use an Xbox 360 controller with this game?

I think there might actually be support for some form of controller, but remember that the game came out in 1999, so it might not work really well with an Xbox controller. You could also use a program like Joy2Key or Xpadder to make a controller profile yourself.

Joysticks and gamepads work but the configuration might be messed up as default so you would need to follow the advice from Waltorious.
The game itself feels like it was designed for a console.

I totally agree, I just started the game and I configured my Xbox controller with Xpadder and it really fits the gamepad, I also configured the camera on the right stick. Pretty good controls now.

I love Xpadder for many games here on GoG.com

I'm using a PS3 controller via MotionInJoy (emulated as an xbox controller). Will using Joy2Key or Xpadder work with that?

YaTEdiGo: I totally agree, I just started the game and I configured my Xbox controller with Xpadder and it really fits the gamepad, I also configured the camera on the right stick. Pretty good controls now.

I love Xpadder for many games here on GoG.com

I can post my outcast setup with a screenshoot if you need it. I will do it later (now I´m busy) yesterday I was playing it and it´s nearly perfect IMO, I just need to link the ESC key for quick leave the menus or the chats in the game..
