Hi everyone.
Just a simple question from a stupid user - Is there a way to skip the intro and just launch right into the game? The loading screen / resolution transition from the intro movie and into the game have been causing havoc on my system, and regularly result in an "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding" error. If there's a way to just get right into the game, I'm hoping I can avoid this.
Thanks in advance!

Typically you find the file in the game folder and rename or move it.
Try launching the game with Loader.exe in the game folder, it bypasses the intro completely.

Thanks much. Wasn't sure which of the myriad EXE files it was, so this was a big help.
Unfortunately the game still crashes with "display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding" all the time, so I guess I was wrong in assuming it was the intro video. Must be something with the loader.

That's a nvidia driver, right ? Have you tried updating your drivers maybe ?

It is an nvidia driver, but unfortunately I'm running on the latest ones. I'll have to assume this isn't related to Outcast, I guess, since no one else seems to be encountering it.

Could be your LCD monitor doesn't like resolutions below 640X480 ?
In this thread there's a few options to get the game running at 640x480.
oops, just noticed you also posted in that thread so you're probably aware of those options.

I'm thinking it's much more of a video card / driver issue, but I'll continue to look into it. The resolutions very may well be involved - But unfortunately all of the fixes for that at the moment either cause game crashes, or else are steps you have to do EVERY time (reediting INI files that the game resets).
On the original topic, though - If you run Loader.exe instead of the GOG provided Start.exe, do you lose the GOG wrapper that makes things run smoothly? I'm just worried that by bypassing the intro mode, I'm going to be causing problems later on.
I've been firing up the game with loader .exe and other than bypassing the intro i don't notice anything different. The game runs fine for me regardless. I didn't use any hacks or patches to change resolution though, i'm happy with the game window on its default size with black bars around it.
Hi there

my problem is that loader.exe has been removed with outcast 1.1 update.
now i cant set resolution at all, or skip the intro
