Exactly from this moment on you can play OUTBUDDIES! I am overjoyed to finally be able to show you the game I’ve been working on so hard for the last six years. I wish you lots of fun on your trip through Bahlam, the sunken city of the Old Gods!
Before you set off on your journey deep into the South Atlantic Ocean take a short look on the brandnew OUTBUDDIES launch trailer to get an idea of what awaits Nikolay and you 36.000 feet under the sea:
But this is not the end, but the beginning of my journey making this game! :)
I’ll use this update to quickly outline the roadmap and my plans for the project. As a solo developer, especially with a kid and daytime job, managing resources and cutting edges can be crucial, and although OUTBUDDIES has become the best game I could possibly make with the constraints given, there’s still room for improvements and expansions in the future.
Processing feedback, balancing and fixing:
No game is free of issues and some shortcomings, especially when it comes to the PC market, where every setup is different. Please let me know in the forums or on Discord, if you experience any issues or if your have suggestions on how the player experience, may it be QoL tools, controls or design choices may be improved. I see the value in any feedback and while I will not be able to please everybody, I can try my very best at least.
Support for single player mouse control:
We’ve also received that request from a couple of keyboard enthusiasts. While Buddy can be controlled with a mouse on CoOp, the single player setup is keyboard only at the moment. And while keys can be remapped to your liking, adding mouse support is for sure something we’ll get implemented in the next weeks.
Easter Egg Speedrunning events:
Starting this December, I’ll upload a special build for a limited period of time, hiding a special trophy deep inside of Bahlam. Players engaging this competition will need to start a new run and the first player posting the trophy’s location on the forums will immortalize himself as a member of the Wozan tribe in the game, forever. Don’t know yet how to handle CoOp teams vs single players, but I’ll come up with something for sure. ^^
Free DLC and maybe a DX version:
OUTBUDDIES will launch on consoles in Q1/ 2020 and polishing the experience even more and maybe adding new biomes, bosses or even a playable Wozan character is definitively on the cards. I respect my player’s investment and achievements, so if DLC comes, it will hook to your achievements and unlock if you managed to get certain stuff done. However, given my very humble budget, this will heavily depend on the game’s reception, especially here on GOG. If you like OUTBUDDIES, please spread the word and write a review. And if you should experience issues or frustration, please get in touch first, and let me try to fix things, before you make your final decision.
Thank you for your support! <3
