Has anyone figured out how to get past the black screen after the Aptitude Test?

I tried adding a link to a relevant issue on Steam but I'm "not allowed to post links".

I'm also hoping for a fix. atm i think i'll just wait until one day before the refund period, then if it doesn't work, i'll refund it

I got a possible fix for the issue.
My operating system version is an N version, one which was stripped of a lot of bloat.
The downside was that Microsoft also removed various media codecs/software along with it.

The missing file on my os was "C:\Windows\System32\mfplat.dll"
Please note that Orwell does not show a pop-up box notifying you of this issue.
It just fails silently, does nothing.

Installing the Windows Media Feature Pack from the following link worked for me.
/www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/mediafeaturepack
