So I installed it and loved it and ranted about its glory here and in other forums.
I tried to play yesterday and it kept asking for the cd, I figured it was the virus scanner problem that was mentioned in other threads. When I installed the game, I marked the folders as exceptions and I was able to install and play.
Come yesterday and I started getting that message, I checked and it was still marked. That picture I attached was from a few minutes ago.
Now, I uninstalled and reinstalled and was able to play last night and this morning (kept my saved games :) ) but now I have this problem again.
Advice appreciated
I attached a picture of the error.
edit: I should have mentioned that I am running windows XP

Double check your virus scanners vault - I have noticed that with AVG the scanner will ignor the game as I run it but when it does a normal scan it will still pick up the files and dump them in the vault. This is with the game folders set to an exception to be ignored - and it works for running, just not when its running a normal scan
Have you tried playing it as an administrator? I still to this day get this error when I just left click the OW shortcut, but if I right click it and select "run as administrator" the game runs fine.
admin is only account on this computer.

Royceseraphim: admin is only account on this computer.

If you are in Vista that does not change anything as no program runs with administrator privlidges by default. You need to set them to run in administrator mode like El_Caz above says.

XP *shrugs*
When OW states that its not installed it means 1 of two things:
1. The registary entry pointing to your Original War directory doesn't exist or its invalid
2. owarfull.dll couldn't be found in the Original War directory

Since the latest beta patch makes owarfull.dll obsolete, should owarfull.exe be enough not to get the "Insert CD" message?
I have installed the latest beta on a GOG version and now I'm getting the No CD error as well...
(July installer version overwritten with the 1 aug. update)
*update*: Nevermind, it appears I have to start the game with owarfull.exe after the patch...

Say, does the problem persists for you? If yes, you should try applying the latest beta patches as I did :).
Visit forum at

for those (I can give more detailed instructions if needed)

owarfull.exe iirc should only be in 1.11 beta. It was changed to an exe as some people's vista couldn't launch dll's as exe's(It has always been a exe, but Altar had it with a dll extention so people couldn't run it directly with any ease). Anyway you should be able to launch 1.11 beta's owarfull.exe from the launcher its self.
