The game seems to be crashing to desktop when it tries to load Mission 8 of the American campaign.
Running Vista 64bit on AMD Phenom Quad w/ dual 8800GTS.
Game ran fine right up until Mission 8 (a few CTD here and there but nothing I couldn't reload from and go)
It is consistant which means I can not get passed Mission 7 :(
Any suggestions? I've checked event viewer and nothing seems to be logged...

Okay, i tried looking into this, but so far I didn't found out much. One guy had a problem with this, but actually, there was no solution.
First of all, try installing the latest patch. Try the full installer.
Then, try using some parameters, they can be found here. WINDOW or maybe customres.
Also, the game didn't even give an error message? Or a log? It would help if there was an error message at least.
Sometimes, playing with the compatibility options also helps.

As Exerron has mentioned, try the latest patch v1.10b Full version.
I had some problems with game crashes earlier after completing the 2nd or 3rd mission.
If you look though your campaign history, you should still be able to start the next mission although the game has crashed previously after ending the previous mission.
After patching to 1.10b, I think I did encounter a crash at the end of another mission(it could be afer mission 8)
I think the game is just a little buggy.
I am running it on WinXP SP3 on a macbook btw.

Damnit! Sorry guys... looks like it was a corrupted save game. I loaded mission 8 from the title screen (after figuring out you could do that) and low and behold it works. Still consistenly crashes if I use that save though.

Yep, starting from the campaign menu gets around the problem for me too. Cheers guys.

I had the exact same problem on Mission 7 going into 8, but on WinXP Sp3. Fortunately it is possible to start mission 8 from the campaign screen.

Is there any chance someone with this problem could post the save on Original War Support's forums so i could debug the problem?

Crashed, same thing I guess. After finishing mission, in the mission statistics screen (about 7th or 8th mission done)
mouse pointer stops moving, I tried with patched and not patched version same thing.
Been installing and reinstalling. Even bought both gamersgate and gog versions.
It's been going on for four hours now.
Getting a bit annoyed, spending a whole day practically working :)
Now I try that load-from-menuscreen thing next thanks.
I even destroyed my saves in the end.
Well it's a good game, worth the nasty business.
O-kay here we go again....

hey there is a patch to update from 1.12.2 to 1.12.6
maybe that fixes it

haven't tried it yet
and won't be there soon 'cos have to go those 7 missions through again first

menu-loading solved the problem.
but the bug still remains that you HAVE TO exit the game and then load the game from the menu.
