I have bought original war a looong time ago (mostly out of patriotism), since I have never red previews, reviews... Well, I knew nearly nothing about the game. Put aside fact it was a czech game. So, I put it into my CD drive, install, launch... And notice that I have just bought the Best RTS. I'm afraid it is not best by now, since I have discovered Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War (yes, I know I'm talking about different games here... But Warhammer is just more fun). Who else played this game? What do you think makes it so great? And who wants to play multiplayer, since I never got the chance?
I still have it on CD, and it's always been in my mind as a very unique and brilliant RTS.
Although it's very, VERY difficult, it's also got great imagination and is truly different. Well worth $6.

I too have this game and agree you really have to think! It has some of the greatest line of sight AI I have ever seen, and the Ai in general is very good. The graphics easily stand up to today's games, and the intro and theme deserve a mention as they are imaginative and excellent in design (both sound and visual!)
I can highly recommend this for the measly $5.99 G.O.G. is charging - there's an easy 35-40 hours in this game and if you have come from a background of modern day RTS's and Baldur's Gate style RPG's then you will love this game!
I played OW too. IMO the game is great for its original concept, people management and so on. Well, about that multiplayer - there is a Czech community website where you can find people to play multiplayer with, either through Hamachi or IP connection, but probably you should download community patch 1.10 first

I have never noticed that web before, thank you :-) I still have to find my OW disks, anyway :D Or just buy it here... Tempting...
I'd like to buy it here, but here is english version only and i don't know why the system doesn't accept the security code of my card, man this is annoying :(

The security code is the last 3 numbers on the back of the card. It should be a group of 4 then a group of 3, and it is the latter 3 that have to be entered.
I'm downloading this game right now. Bought Fallout2 yesterday so get Original War for free. Thanks GOG!
I had it but my disk broke. Thankfully this site came and let me buy it again :D. Ive completed it like 5-6 times (all 4 campaigns). I love this game so much :). My tip is to update the game to the latest version for a couple of things:
1. Stability
2. Bug fixing
3. Internetplay actually works without hamachii or xFire.
I dont know if this version has them all pre-installad or merged because i havent tried it myself yet.
EDIT: How do you get that other HUD? It's cool

I know about that. I have bought many games on STEAM with this card, but everytimes I write my security code, that box turns red and I can't proceed any further. I tried GOG support, but they didn't reply a thing.
If I'm remembering correctly, this was released by Virgin Interactive alongside Beneath A Steel Sky, right? I remember them both having a kind of arresting visual sense just from the package. Bought BASS, but not this, guess I should get it now...

I think Beneath a Steel Sky was a bit earlier, by three months or so! :) So yes, you were right! :)
If Beneath a Steel Sky 1994 and Original War 2001 is 4 months then sure :P
Tho if you meant these coming in a 2in1 pacage i have no idea but i have to have been after 2001:P
My copy of Original War was Original War alone :P
