When I click on optimize equip on a character it doesn't seem to equip a shield or second weapon even though it seems to be better to have a shield or second weapon equipped.

When I equip a shield or second weapon manually and click on optimize, the shield and second weapon even gets removed.

Am I missing something here? Is there some benefit to having a free second hand?

I noticed that too. I kinda assumed it had to do with 2nd hand penalty but it could just as easily be a bug. Also, how would the optimize know if you wanted a 2nd weapon or a shield? I was doing dual wield when I noticed it removed the 2nd hand weapon each time.
