javarox1022: My buddy bought the game, based on the intro video on GOG's site. He's a big Bowie fan. Imagine his surprise when the "intro" part of the game played... but the Bowie song did not. It was like it was cut out of the game. I don't know if this was intentional, or not, but he never could get the intro to play the music like it does in the video on GOG. Now he's claiming false advertising. If they took the music out of the game, shouldn't they have said something about it on the website. You know, "Sorry, but due to licensing issues we had to rip the music out of the game..." or something like that? I told him maybe it was just a problem on his end. All the other sounds effects and music seem to be working. Just the parts where Bowie is singing are not.
The audio works fine on my computer - it plays the Bowie song and everything in the OP segment. I mean the credits don't show up for me sometimes, but otherwise it's exactly as advertised.

502: The audio files are in the TRACKS folder with the .adp extension, but I don't know if they can be converted to a more common format. Perhaps it was a deliberate attempt to make the songs exclusively available from within the game.

It's not like "Hours..." is not readily available elsewhere and we are hopelessly dependent on GOG for a soundtrack bonus, but think about it, some of the sound files could be perfect phone ringtones or notification sounds, especially now that we are all so hyped up about Omikron again.
At least according to Wikipedia the tracks on the album are actually rewritten versions of what is used in the game. So having the actual game soundtrack available separately would have... how should I put this... cultural value?

edit: I just remembered that I had converted some of Omikron's music myself, and dug out the program to do that. Does anybody have recommendations where to upload it so others can get it too?

more edit: Here is a link to download the ADP to WAV conversion program I found on the net. It's a simple command line executable. I can tell it works very well from personal experience. Oh, and and in case you just want the actual songs from the game's soundtrack, those are files numbered 3 and 79-86.

Thanks for this...I had found that same converter ages ago (thankfully I saved the ripped soundtrack) but I couldn't find the converter again until now.
Thanks timotaka.

This is awesome! Thanks a lot!! :)

Also, this Batch-File might come in handy (as you normally have to type each single filename in the command line, like "adp2wav 32.ADP 32.WAV").

Just copy it (convert.bat) into the TRACKS folder (together with the files from timotaka, of course), and run it. It works perfectly.

weird, I only had that issue once so far and that was when the game accidently started the rain effects when the intro was starting so I got five seconds of the song and then rain sounds all through out the intro.

Well... thankfully the game works perfectly (WITH the Bowie songs) for everyone else.
So to all the people who worry about the game not containing the Bowie songs:

They are still in there! ;)
Its sad that the soundtrack is missing from the Gog version........its an obvious bonus item! Most people will play it for the Bowie factor with others just curious what the pre-Indigo Prophecy/Heavy Rain people were doing.

David Bowie's album Hours is readily available everywhere though and it has New Angels of Promise in it! Suspicious Minds replaces Omikron from the lyrics.......no idea if it was Bowie cannibalizing his own music for the game or vice versa.

I bought this game a while back but have yet to play it. I did not realise the soundtrack has been removed. Is this the actual in-game background music or a separate soundtrack CD?

If its the former, how do I get the music back because I did buy it partly for the Bowie factor!

EDIT: Sorry all, should have read the entire thread. I see the music is still included in the games. Thats good enough for me! Thanks.

That's actually a .txt file, you have to configure Windows to not hide the well known extensions,
then remove the .txt in oder to make the file a .bat file.
Thanks for all! :))

That's strange. I uploaded it as a .bat file and Mediafire has it stored as a .bat file. Oh well... ;) ... not a problem for you guys, I guess.

Thanks a lot guys, you're life savers.

Afer using your solution to get the wav files, I used Audacity to batch convert everything to MP3. Nice.

Thanks for the converter!

It'd be nice to know per-track credits. The manual has a track list at the end, and it credits Bowie/Gabrels for four non-song tracks and Gabrels for a couple dozen others. I think the soundtrack downloads that circulate on the net credit Despas with far too many tracks.

The track list has track names, but if they're not referenced with them anywhere else, it doesn't really help that much..
Wow - just got all the files converted.

It's crazy to have access to all of these tracks! I'd be interested in putting together a name .txt and sharing it but I'd need some help.

What's track 79? I don't recall that being in the game.
