Every time I use the pulley in the factory, my character falls over dead almost immediately after. It's never because of the guard, because it happens every time even when I'm at full health. I've even killed the guard without getting hit yet I just die.

The game isn't telling me why I die either -- I just clutch my stomach and fall over. It's usually exactly five seconds after getting off the pulley.

What is going on here? I've restarted the game, gone back to a previous save, nothing is working!

It seems like this is a game breaking bug for me, no way around it.

Alright, if anyone has this same problem here is how I fixed it:

I cleared out the entire beginning part of the level, killing all the enemies and placing all the bombs.

I then reincarnated into the soldier and went to the next level -- no one shot at me because I was the soldier.

I used the pulley to go across the toxic waste.

This part is key -- after landing, I didn't move for upwards of 20 seconds. No one was shooting at me, so I simply stood there and watched the enemies move around.

After 20 seconds, I jumped down onto the conveyor belt, ran past the boxes and everything was fine, no random death for no reason.

This is the only method that seemed to bypass the glitch, so hopefully one day this will be helpful for someone else!
