Hello.

I've been trying to play Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee but every time I open the game, it only shows a black screen. I can hear sound, and the game runs fine, but I cannot see anything (other than the occasional flash of the menu or opening screens). I've tried several options to fix this, to no avail:

(not in order)
- downloaded old DirectX
- sent a report to GOG Support
- turned off UAC
- ran as Administrator
- re-installed
- ran in compatibility mode
- forced 640 x 480 resolution
- updated graphics card
- changed screen resolution
- re-booted my computer
- turned off anti-virus
- created a new Administrator account and tried it on there
- turned off all unused processes such as mssces.exe or javaw.exe
- looked at the Steam forums to download a DDHack designed for the Oddworld series (broken link)

None of these have worked. It is useful to know that my laptop screen is broken and is hooked up via HDMI to a 32" Insignia NS32L120A13 TV. I have also attached here my system specs so any of you techies can tell me what's going on, maybe.

Thanks for the help.

I'm having the same problem. I try to run the program and all I get is a black screen, the music begins skipping and either locks my computer up completely, or shuts the program down.

I've tried pretty much all the same tricks you have.
DDHack works for me. you can find a topic about it in this forum

Nope. Tried that. It displays the DDHack logo on the screen, but now it just shows a black screen with no sound at all. It didn't even start the game.

Edit: After reading through the Steam forum post about the DDHack, I've come to the realization that my computer does not have enough processing power to handle the DDHack and the game at the same time. Looks like I'm gonna have to get a refund on this game.
