Seriously this game is excellent, in every aspect.
This game is one of the best jump and run games ever created. The Points which make this game awesome is that it's very simple, you cannot "loose" and don't have to restart the level. The Jumping mechanics are great and very simple.
Although the game gets very hard at parts and sometimes frustrating even though it's so satisfying and challenging to beat the game. Abe doesn't use any weapons which really changes the whole gameplay. His ability to take over other beings and control them is simply unique. The player has also the possibility to talk with other creatures which is also a very cool part of the game.
The Story and the whole setting is simply amazing, discovering the unknown and the strange in this game is simply mindblowing. Weird creatures and monsters travel on your journey and may cause trouble. Just great.
I heavily recommend this game to everyone.

junker154: Nothing beats this!
I don't beat it either. It's just to freaking hard to be fun.
(And the hard part lies in the responsiveness of the controls, not in that it's a big challenge. Then it would be fun).
Too hard for me :(
It's hard to get any progress. I'm just running around like an idiot trying to find some kind of invisible switch, button or God-knows-what that would help me to go on. For me it's more like an adventure (point-n-click) game than a platformer. Too hard to have fun...
I feel tempted to help myself with a walkthrough, but then I think: 'Maybe I'll try some time later when I am in the mood to solve some puzzles...'

Take a look to a walkthrough, honestly the game is made for "replaying it", the first levels are a pain, later turns more "easy" as the game show you some "abilities" that you can use on a "re-play" of the story.

So today we have too many games to play in my opinion, if you dont want to suffer more than necessary and still enjoy this great game, with old very hard try and mistake gameplay, take a look to youtube videos that will help you to learn some basics, and stop seeing them when you found yourself confident with the gameplay.

Honestly I was nearly to abandon the game at the beginning... now I think I´m more or less in the middle of the game (Paramonia temple level)
Well, the point that it IS a pretty hard game, even on the second run is like a feature for me these days. I don't play this when I come home from work to cool down etc.. I play this when i want a little bit of challenge.
Abe's Odyssey is a hard trip and you have to learn many things by trial and error, and even if you KNOW how you can get to the next screen, you still have to beat the expected skill (and you have to beat the controls of course, haha ;D ).

I'm looking forward for the HD remake, until then i enjoy the original.

"Hello."
"Hello."
"Follow me."
"Okay."

That's how friendships are made.. xD
I've managed to finish Exoddus where the quicksave feature came really handy. But now I'm struggling with Oddysee, which I find it far more difficult than Exoddus.
I absolutely love Oddworld. When the games first game out, I did struggle through to the ending...and of course by then I figured out how to save the Mudokens, but it was a little late to go back and try and get all the ones I'd missed. On subsequent replays I go for 100%, but I still think they are great games just to muck around with.

I don't remember struggling with the controls much, but I own this for Playstation, not PC, and that might be why?
