Today I downloaded Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and noticed that game is supported by Xfire, which I use for almost a year. Program has many interesting features, like for example talking with friends in-game and taking screenshots. There is also played hours counter for supported games. I really like this one option, I have my own "hours collection" which I can compare with those of other Xfire Users.
Unfortunately I discovered that Xfire don't want to recognize GOG version of the game. After some time of searching and experimenting I have found a solution, but only for counter, so if You are Users of the program and like to "collect" Your played hours then You can read rest of this post.
1. Enter the Xfire directory on Your HDD (after installing the game of course).
2. Find "xfire_games.ini" file and make its copy (just in case).
3. Open it with Notepad and find such registration:
LongName=Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee
ShortName=oddao
LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\InstallPath
LauncherExe=steam.exe
DetectExe=steamapps\common\oddworld abes oddysee\AbeWin.exe
(...)
As You can see, Xfire supports only Steam version of the game. Now we will change it. :]
4. Delete this line:
DetectExe=steamapps\common\oddworld abes oddysee\AbeWin.exe
5. Change:
LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\InstallPath
LauncherExe=steam.exe
into
LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GOG.com\GOGABESODDYSEE\PATH
LauncherExe=AbeWin.exe
(EDIT: please change "& #92;" into "\", that's probably job of forum's script ;))
6. Save changes and make copy of the file again, because if list of supported games will change then this file will be overwritten automatically. Then You will be able to copy file fragment about this game and paste it into new list.
7. Now start games detection in Xfire. If everything went well then Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee will show on Your installed games list.
8. You can open the game (and hours counter is working now) but You will see that movies are "flashing". Just go into Tools/Options.../Games/ in the program and choose Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee from the list. After that click "Disable Xfire In-Game" on the right. This will disable all program features except counter (for this game only), but thanks to that movies will work fine. Just as the rest of the game. ;)
I hope You will find this useful. Have fun!
