lommes: Runs flawless so far using lutris. Biggest problem is controller support which really annoys me, since I'm using a 60% keyboard without arrow keys and there is no remapping of controls.
WINE/Proton is not and has never been a proper substitute for native support. Compatibility within the same WINE or Proton version can and will break between distros, kernels, distro release versions, and even updates to your software packages. A game working with a specific WINE version now is no guarantee that it will work in a few years. It's good news that it's working right now, but unless it works on Windows 7 and you have a Windows 7 install (10 updates break stuff because rolling release is an awful update model) you can't guarantee that the game will always work. It's good that it works on WINE now, but that's not really a long-term solution.
However, there is something promising on the reviews page. One of the reviewers noted that the game runs on an unmodified Solarus game engine, which does run on Linux, so you can play at least part of the game by downloading the Solarus runtime and copying a few files over.
@blueatomix Then game can be played on linux and macOS (also raspberry pi but I don't know about this one stability).
This game uses the unmodified solarus game engine. All it requires is to get the player package for your platform were:
https://www.solarus-games.org/en/solarus/download and copy the data.solarus file to the root of were you installed the engine. I could run it on ubuntu, did not try with mac (I down own one).
Of course, this irritates me too because it's using a premade engine that already supports Linux, but like so many AAA studios, this dev didn't even bother clicking the Linux button in the Export menu.
If you can't rebind the keys/buttons the way you like them, try using qjoypad. Depending on your DE, you might have to pass it --notray to get it to work. Qjoypad almost always works - I've only come across one or two games ever that were insistent enough on their own control setup that they somehow misbehave with qjoypad or similar software.
It's hard to believe that a game released in 2021 won't let you remap your controller or keys, but it's also gotten more common for games to only show Xbox button prompts instead of actions, the default button/key, or a choice of Playstation/Nintendo/Xbox prompts, so I guess controller support in general has suffered a backslide in the PC space.
