Can I keep the GOG Galaxy screen/app from opening when I start my game? I thought the games here were supposed to be DRM-free. This seems an awful like Steam's pattern of requiring the client to open before you are able to play your game.

Downloading the game from GOG.com instead of installing and enabling the GOG Galaxy app gives you a DRM-free version.

GOG's Galaxy app is very much like Steam, yes. It keeps the game updated for you when updates become available, so you won't have to re-download the whole game over and over.

Using Galaxy is a choice. Delete it and download the game from GOG.com if you're not satisfied with how the Galaxy app works.

Thanks for your advice. I appreciate your prompt reply. I have installed several games via GOG Galaxy. Obduction is, thus far at least, the only one that does this. No one else has had this happen?

No one else has reported this as a problem since the game launched last August, no.
