FallingBright: Hey there, I have had NOX on the backburner for a while, loving the beginning, waiting to finally plunge through the whole thing. The time has come! I am curious if playing with Lord of Storms dlc on the first playthrough is recommended, or will it make the endgame too easy with all of the extra XP and loot. Thanks!

I would recommend playing the LOS content the first time through unless you are concerned about the game being too long. The base game is long (60-100 hours), and LOS content is another 15-30.
The LOS content is positioned to smooth out a large XP gap between level 5 and 6 so if anything, it should enhance playing the base game rather than make it feel to easy. There are some cool massively powerful items you can optionally find in LOS, but they can't be used until later the game and they don't unbalance the end game, they just create more options for playing it.
