jamesg71: I know some of them are pure trash as the game says as much when you use it. However there are a couple that say the runes make you weak when you read them. I don't see any change in the characters stats though. Are these just basically all trash or is there a vendor or NPC that gives you a nice reward for them?

ct6502: Yeah, there are really only two types of books. Ones that have lots of helpful information, like books on demons or liches, and then all the rest which are just flavor. The "make you weak" ones don't really do anything - that's just us messing around. And you can try selling all of the books. If it's an important book, the merchant will refuse to buy it. Otherwise they will usually offer you 1 gold, which is better than nothing and gets it out of your inventory. :-)
I kind of thought the make you weak message was basically saying what you read blew your mind ::). Great game by the way, takes me back to the 80's when I played Ultima IV
