I still haven't finished Nox yet but I really enjoy the way it plays so I'm wondering if there are any other similar sorts of games I can play too?

Basically I would love another isometric, point and click dungeon crawler game. I'm open to older games or more recent, but bearing in mind that I've played most of the modern/obvious ARPG games like TQ, Diablo 3, Torchlight 1+2 etc. but I'm after something that's a little more like this old school type of feel. I'm particularly interested in indie games that I might have missed, perhaps...

(I'm playing on a macbook air, FYI)

Haven't played it, but the Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing seem to have a similar control scheme, you should check the series out.

The first two Divinity games, <span class="bold">Divine Divinity</span> and <span class="bold">Beyond Divinity</span> are definitely good candidates.

In case you haven't tried them, I *highly* recommend Victor Vran and Grim Dawn. Victor Vran feels a lot like some sort of spiritual successor to Nox, with the jump and roll mechanics, something not a lot of ARPGs tend to have, and it also has a Mac version, which suits your requirements. Grim Dawn, sadly, is Windows only, but I'd say to look into it as well, as it is an amazing game.

I second Charon's suggestion but, sadly, the Van Helsing games (Van Helsing, Van Helsing II and Van Helsing III) are Windows only, as well. But they are definitely good recommendations if you're looking for fun, fast-paced ARPG dungeon-crawlers.

I'd also say to steer away from the Divinity games, they're way too slow and the humour is... well, you either love it or hate it, and let's just say I don't love it. The first two also play nothing like Nox, you just press the attack button continuously and the character keeps attacking until they or the mob dies. Not really fun or fast games, and they take quite some time to beat (especially the overrated Divine Divinity). Give them a look, if you want, but do bear in mind the screenshots are somewhat misleading: these play more like Baldur's Gate* than Diablo or Nox.


* the Baldur's Gate comparison was an exaggeration: you don't control a party and the combat isn't real time with pause. But, then again, the comparison to Diablo isn't fair, either, as the first two Divinity games are definitely slow, more tactical games than Diablo or Nox.

Sacred 1 and 2 are similar to Nox.

I hear the new game still in dev, Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem, is similar.

Started to get into these kinda games again too, but I need to finish Diablo still! :P

Actually made a list for myself to see what I had too, so here's some of them:

-Arcanum of Steamworks and Magicka Obscura ( Just Arcanum if you don't have that much time on your hands)

-Driftmoon (Surprisingly good for a mostly unknown game)

-Deadly Tower of Monsters (Sci-Fi and comedic, just to warn you)

-Shadowrun Returns (more TBS, but RPG elements and pretty good)

-Inquisitor (still haven't played this actually)

Just in case you haven't played some of the Great Old Ones;

-Dungeon Siege

-Planescape: Torment

These two I only just started and haven't really played, but both seem seriously deep in terms of character creation/customization and pretty interesting stories. These seem like more hardcore/oldskool RPGs, unforgiving and challenging, more than the hack & slash style of Diablo or Torchlight.

-Pillars of Eternity

-Serpent in the Staglands

-*And I totally skipped the macbook part, SORRY! No idea which of these might work for you, hope some do!*

If you never played Diablo 2 (sorry you only mentioned D3) then that should be next on your list. It's still avail straight from Blizzard.

Disregard the ENTIRE post above mine, exactly ZERO of those games are ARPG's. They are party based full RPG experiences, nothing like Diablo-clones.

Here's a list of actual ARPG's that might work on your MacBook that you didn't list:

Diablo II + LoD: You have to have played this already, right? Just didn't mention it?

CrossCode: an interesting JARPG .. it skirts the lines of RPG but it's defintiely got action..

There's not really much else NATIVE for mac in ARPG land, so if you can Bootcamp windows on your mac try these:

Divine Divinity: I LOVED THIS GAME, it's much, much more ARPG than Baldur's Gate/Pillars of Eternity

Sacred II: Someone mentioned this, it's definitely ARPG. (check graphics req)

Fate: oldie but goodie...

Dungeon Seige 1+2: This is more Diablo than BG/Pillars..

PATH OF EXILE: It's free to play and it's GOOD. Try it.

Grim Dawn: This game is fantastic, but I think we're entering the realm here where the graphics on a MacBook Air aren't going to cut it.

Victor Vran: again, check graphics req...

Van Helsing: same ..

I haven't found a game similar to Nox since I first time played it when it was released. Basically Nox is about fluid gameplay with fine music, voiceovers, physics and that beautiful interface. There are no games with similar properties sadly. And I haven't played a single game with that good sound environment since 2003 maybe.
