Anyone else get this problem? Is there a fix? The cursor is gone but the buttons still highlight if the mouse is on them, though you can't see where you're pointing.. pretty annoying.

I'm getting this as well. I also have trouble with the mouse precision. I'm using a Logitech G500 and it seems like a chore sometimes to get the cursor where I want it in the game. Could this be a weird compatibility problem with laser mice as opposed to ball which was more common when the game was released?
Unselect 'Unlocked DX Surfaces'.
Happens to me too, only on the menu's though. Game is fine. I will try unlocked DX surface to see if that fixes it.
I have unlocked DX Surfaces selected in the options, but the mouse still disappears in the menus. No luck with fixing that so far. However everything else is excellent! Still love this game after all these year!

Well, this is an old post, but this is happening to me too.
I just have a standard 3 button mouse (not logitech) using the generic windows 7 drivers.
Any ideas?

ETA:
Unselect 'Unlocked DX Surfaces'. fixed it.

I've just installed Nox and I was having the same mouse cursor issues.
Selecting the 'Unlocked DX Surfaces' solved the problem.

Thanks
