MurphNastyFlex: Please i bought this from GOG. It crashes and strobes on the Nox screen right after the intro. I really want to play this game and GOG is usually pretty good about finding fixes but i'm not finding a lot like my problem. Please comment ay ideas for fixes you have.
I am running Windows 10 with a very low spec PC. My screen displayed a persistent flickering title screen, but didn't crash. I could move the mouse around and hear sound effects. The readme.txt file mentions a compatibility mode reset in the start menu. This solved my problem.
Method 1 using GOG Galaxy launcher
1. Click Nox shortcut from the start menu (It looks like an ordinary shortcut and does not say compatibility.)
2. Click "Run Program" button.
3. Don't skip company logos. (Some programs secretly load data during this time & will fail if skipped occasionally)
4. Don't skip cutscene (Sometimes this causes sound card issues.)
5. Use quit button to exit game.
6. Now click "Play" from GOG Galaxy launcher
7. Repeat steps 3 & 4.
8. Click New or Load game & have fun.
Method 2 manual compatibility option
1. Locate Nox.exe (Don't confuse it with the shortcut)
2. Right click then select properties
3. Click compatibility tab
4. Select Compatibility box and select Windows 98
5. Click ok
6. Double click Nox.exe (I don't hide my file extensions, but yours may be hidden.)
7. Don't skip company logos. (Some programs secretly load data during this time & will fail if skipped occasionally)
8. Don't skip cutscene (Sometimes this causes sound card issues.)
9. Click New or Load game & have fun.
