As much as I played the hell out of the singleplayer portion of this game, I think it really shines in its fast paced multiplayer. Is multiplayer supported at this time?
The multiplayer servers were taken offline years ago. You can still play LAN though, so installing something like Himachi would allow you to play multiplayer via simulated lan with other people. Too bad someone with the skills can't write up a quick portal/matching page that would let real multiplayer work and trick the client into using LAN without Himachi.

Edit: According to the posts below, I'm wrong and you can still play mp! Woot!

I found a link to the westwoodonline.exe component:

http://zoaedk.noxforum.net/files/WestwoodOnline.exe

I downloaded it, then installed it. I created a name and password (I didn't create a new account or register, I just put a name and password in and hit login and it worked), and selected the XWIS server. Guess what? There were a few people playing on servers! I didn't connect to them however. Will test later...

(sometime later)

...yep, looks like I can connect to a game. Just walked around some and then disconnected.

The last time I remember playing Multi-Player Nox was in 2000 or 2001. I still had dial-up at home (parents house) so I installed it on my computer at work and played it while I was on the clock. Thinking about it now, I can't believe I did that. I guess being fresh out of college, having no bills, and being paid a lot less than I felt I was worth led me into doing some dumb things (and I eventually got a promotion and still work at the same place). Edit: heh, and I still remember the names of one of the other players: Porno Stan.

They're correct. That forum and the fans there have been keeping MP working ever since the servers were originally shut down. There's usually a few players on but if you post on the forums about a gather-up I bet you they'd likely try to get together for some multiplayer fun.
I need to know.. why not re-release this with a few multiplayer servers.

The multiplayer was what was so great about Nox.
Gameranger supports Nox and my friend and I used it to play multiplayer over the net.

How many people can play together in multi-player?
