Got this email from Hello Games as an update to a support ticket. Looks like updates for not only fixes but experience as well!

Email is as follows:

Hello !!

First of all, we are thankful for all your love, support and affection towards our dream project ‘No Man’s Sky’. At the same time, if you have mailed out support address, we are extremely sorry for any issues you are facing playing our game.

Please be assured that we are working literally around the clock to resolve the most critical issues for players. We are collating all the data and support requests you have sent, and it is helping us to develop fixes. Sincerely thank you for your help.

Many people have waited so long to play the game, and we know how frustrating it can be to have problems. We hear you, and we humbly request you to wait a bit longer as we try to get these fixes tested and rolled out soon.

A patch for both PC and PS4 will be released this week. These will fix the most urgent and critical issues for all our players. Then next week another patch for PS4 and PC will be released which will help to improve the experience further for players. We will keep you updated.

In the meantime, please find a list of the most common issues and workarounds here:
http://www.no-mans-sky.com/support/

No Man’s Sky is a vast journey, we intend to continually update and improve this game and we look forward to working with you to provide the best gameplay experience we can.

Thank you for understanding,
Hello Games
To bad GoG and Hello Games aren't communicating with each other good enough to even get us these patches.

Experimental Branch was an available option and it just disappeared out of no where, even though it didn't include the update the option was still there but now not.
so this game is an expensive early access one :-)

For what it's worth, I e-mailed the Hello Games support, specifically asking for better gog.com support. I haven't received a reply yet but I'll keep you posted.
Got the exact same email a few minutes ago to the ticket I put in on release day.

I guess its better than crickets chirping though their inability to get on the forums here to even acknowledge us as customers really ticks me off.

Actually I find crickets chirping as better. Crickets chirping indicates a sign of life. Form letter responses border on the don't give a flying rat's backside what you asked.
But, but they thank us for all of our love brah!

:)

Damn hipster snowflakes!
They wouldnt last one day fighting the Galactic Empire!

i tweeted sean the same. he acts like theres only steam version...
1. They haven't released any patches yet. Gog didn't get the rebuild and setting-tweaks in the experimental branch, and very likely being able to install it wouldn't have changed anything significantly (also, getting it to run on Phenom processors wasn't complete). Odds are people would not necessarily have been happy with that either.

2. What we're hearing from is HG's new Q&A group, that they have in addition to Sony Q&A. Like they say, they're looking at the most critical problems. That's hangs, gamestopping bugs, and so on. They're not looking at anything else. And likely HG never will, because of platform parity. (Aka. Sony are scumbags who hate gamers.)

3. The game is feature locked, and will continue to be that for as long as Sony holds publishing rights, or potentially for as long as HG are involved with Sony's after-release support period. The features that are there are final, all gameplay and layout, any typical gameflow-changes, etc. will not be done officially by HG.

4. Hoping for an unofficial branch is bonkers. It won't happen, because kids with no brains keep worshipping the console giants and the large publishers while showering them with money. Thanks a lot.

5. I thank you for you kindness and love you will all shower me with for posting this. And I hope I can be of further assistance in the future. Thank you for understanding.
I wish hello games all the best but they didn't have a proper Q&A department and this is why PC is crap currently. Because PC is an open platform we don't have anyone gating content for quality yet Microsoft and Sony gate their platforms for content and quality. Hello games had to get the PS4 version of the game running at base minimum before sony would accept the game so this version of the game has all the optimization and 'love,' yet steam and gog don't quality control the games they sell so you can get a company dumping a game that isn't optimized and therefore not finished on to the market.

I personally felt that hello games doesn't deserve my patronage at launch pricing because they did not give me a game ready on opening day. I don't expect a game to run perfect but I do expect it to run without massive hitching and for my R9 290x card to be sufficient power to run the game, yet I saw people with gtx 1080 and 1070 both cards which out perform mine having the same issues.

PC gamers as a community are unhappy with the way ports and the like are made for us then we have to start being more savvy about how we buy video games. We have to refund games that don't work and not 'wait' for the developer to fix them. Why weren't some of these issues fixed before launch? If they could do them a week after launch it really does beg the question why didn't you fix some of these issue before hand. Some just couldn't have been discovered without having released them like finding the AMD phenom chips don't work. This is something that one would expect to be addressed after market because unless hello games had a pc with a phenom chip they'd not know. But shader cache issues or frame rate selection in their options menu causing issues are all issues they should have known about with even half as$ed Q&A but they didn't.

I have gotten a refund for the game because gog recognizes that this game was sold prematurely and the problems are not imaginary.

I feel hello games has a foundation built for a great game and yes this game isn't for everyone but no game is, I just wished they hadn't screwed up their PC launch as I feel this will hurt them in the future. I know I won't buy the game again until it is at least 1/2 off and then only if I see from people that the game's technical issues are fixed.

Thanks for keeping us informed of hello game's plans.

Actually in the 3rd Experimental patch it has been working for a large number of users as has been reported for over a day now on Steam. The first one issued days ago had the issues you describe of only getting one screen further/not changed significantly.

Also there are numerous other fixes you are missing that apply to folks whom that particular processor issue don't matter.

All that is being requested is to use the same level/feature functionality that GOG provides via Galaxy that Steam users get via the Steam Client.

Neither gog nor steam lists Sony as the publisher of this game. I would've thought a lot harder about buying it if it had.

Sadly today it's a good guess for any PC game that the ui will be horrible if it even has a console version because developing two uis costs more and this game is no exception but does Sony actually require that a developer not change the game on another platform if they want to release for ps4?

...
To be fair, I don't think Sony is the publisher for PC. It's self-published by Hello Games on PC if I recall.

According to this interview published on August 10th, HG has the power to make changes. He says:

GR: With such a big publisher like Sony behind the game, is there pressure to finish it and move on to a sequel?

SM: It could be... well, I think, the reality is, Sony has been amazingly supportive, but actually, once the game is out, this is not necessarily Sony's game per se. We as an indie studio are incredibly grateful for the support, but actually once the game is out, the conversation is between the studio, the developer and the community, not necessarily the publisher or whoever. It is about the developer who can make changes, and the community who really understands the game now being a real thing and also want certain changes.
Then again in the past he said there will be no paid DLC, but has recently said that he can't rule out paid DLC, so believe what you will.
