I followed a distress beacon and located a nice explorer ship. I repaired it. I flew it to the space station. I tried to scap it. It won't let me. It gives an "Inventory Full" error although I have lots of free slots in my personal inventory. I even warped to another system (twice) and tried to sell it there. Same error each time.

What gives? I have previously scrapped/sold two other ships (one was the beginner ship) without issue.

How many is "lots"? If the ship is a fighter, you're likely to get 4 procedural tech items and several other components (also maybe a storage upgrade), so you may need more available slots than you have. Try unloading as much inventory as you can into a different ship or a vault before scrapping the ship. Also, if you still have tech in your normal suit storage and available tech slots, move the tech into that area. While you couldn't move "core" tech in previous versions, you CAN move it now, so take advantage of that to free up as much space in your normal suit inventory as possible.

The first time I tried this, I had 5 free slots. It asked for six free slots. I complied. Successfully scrapped it. But on this ship (a B-class explorer), I get no "suggestion", just the "Inventory Full" message when my inventory is not full. In fact I've tried pretty much everything you suggested already. The only difference is that now I have the personal-backpack refiner. I'll try and see if it works if I go with an empty backpack as Ive been adding/buying slots.
Finally got it sold! Worked to increase the number of slots. Had 25 of 29 slots free. Sold/scrapped the ship and the return filled 9 slots. Nine. :\

That was a *lot* of work for 2.4M.
