Ok , so you've just started playing NMS or been playing it for quite sometime and want to Buy that fancy S-Class Multi-tool or Ship?.. for this you need Units , Lots and Lots (Millions) of Units.

Here I will describe how to do exactly that! , raking in Millions of units within 30-60 minutes of gameplay.

so if you're keen on a Unit making mission then you've come to the right spot!

Required Tech;
============
*Analysis Visor
*Terrain Manipulator
*Bolt-caster
*Warp Drive.
*Launch Thruster Fuel.
*Available Free slots in Suit and Ship , The more the Better.
^ here is a Tutorial on expanding your Slots -> https://www.gog.com/forum/no_mans_sky/tip_how_to_get_maximum_exosuit_slots

If you don't yet have these tools/tech then you need to progress through the main mission some before starting this escapade.

Now what we're looking for is Planets with either "Salvageable Scrap" or "Ancient Bones". So when you scan the planets keep a lookout for these two core resources. Scan all Planets in your Solar System if you don't have the Warp-Drive you maybe lucky to find one. else you will need to progress through the base-line mission and find/install the "Warp-drive" , you should get it pretty quickly.

Preference: "Salvageable Scrap" as it has Bigger Returns between 200K ~ 2.5 Million Units.
Alternative: "Ancient Bones" 100K - 1.5 Million Units but you get several deposits at each location between 1-5 pickups. however most are of the "Common" variety and yield around <100K each. So fills up Slots Fast.

ok for those that are lucky enough to find said planets this is What you do. Drop down onto the Planet Surface anywhere.

Exit your Star-Ship and immediately scan for "Yellow Shields" , Also Lookout for "Blue Shields" as this is "Technology Modules" used later in purchasing base components via the "Nexus Hub" , these Stack up-to 15 Per slot and are handy to have in the early-mid stages of game-play. If you don't have planets with "Salvageable Scrap" or "Ancient Bones" Then Scan for these "Technology Modules"...

Right back to "Yellow Shields" , once you spot one if it is <500u from your Ship Just Sprint+Jetpack+Melee over to the Shields location, it will be buried so you need to have your Terrain Manipulator Ready to uncover the resource.

in case of "Ancient Bones" several "Yellow Shields" will appear as you get closer to the tagged one. Zap these all up and scan for the Next "Yellow Shield" if 500u+ away jump in your ship and fly over to them. Sometimes there are multiple Shields. Keep track of these and fly to each one consecutively. Each Deposit holds between (2-5pickups) for Ancient Bones or (1) for Salvageable Scrap each pickup will use 1 Slot in Suit/Ship. Therefore you may find 5 Bones in one Deposit but 3 Maybe Common , 1 Rare , 1 Extremely Rare 5 slots needed for one deposit "AB". These are denoted by their respective colors at pickup.

Blue = Common @ 100K
Purple = Rare @ 400K-900K ish.
Gold = Extremely Rare @1 Million Plus Units.

With the bones you can't really tell until you've picked them up but with "Salvageable Scrap" there's a few secrets to getting the Big Money Items 2 Million + Units.

basically when you come across a "Salvageable Scrap" deposit you will Find Either an "Atomic Bomb" like structure or a structure with several Finger-like tentacles protruding from its core. All "SS" has a Core and the more casings it has the Bigger the Reward. The Bomb Like Structures are the Least Valuable but still yield 200-300K Units in Value.

However with "SS" there is a 50% chance of spawning a "Corrupted Sentinel"! these are not as Powerful as normal Sentinels and can be easily dispersed by firing shots from your "Bolt-Caster" at their Bottom Eye. This in Turn , Turns Blue each successful Hit and destroys the Sentinel Faster. Same Principle with normal Sentinels but they have a Metal Tag instead of an Eye.

Now if you come across Scrap which spawns a sentinel , if you kill it , then another one will spawn when you destroy the next casing piece! Best to destroy all but the Core Casings. in one go and deal with the one
"Corrupted Sentinel" then to go through destroying a casing , destroying the sentinel , destroying a casing and so-forth. Although with this method you are collecting to valuable resources Pugnium & Nanites (about 10 per Sentinel) but they all add up and those Suit upgrades later cost a whole lotta Nanites. the Pugnium is used for those "Damaged Machinery" Devices that you find lurking about the place , they usually give upto 30 Nanites per so try to collect these when you see them!

Finally Destroy the final core and reap the rewards.

Ok so Dig up the Scrap/Bones Fill up your Ship inventory , Fill up your Suit Inventory and Head to the nearest Space Station!.. Cash in and "Rinse and Repeat" .. The more slots you have the more Units you'll make. Flying between deposits is fastest but is up-to you.

if you have multiple StarShips ones with more slots , then just call it over and fill up all its slots else deal with what you have.

If you have a smaller StarShip and few slots and are on a "SS" Planet then simply Skip the smaller deposits (Bomb like Structures) and aim for the Rare - Extremely Rare (Purple/Gold) Finger like deposits on the planet.

if you don't see any in your Visor , Jump in Ship Fly ahead a small distance land and rescan. Your Visor has a range of about 1000u so sometimes just running for a little bit brings up deposits. you can always call your Star-Ship over to you.

So Yeah , Easy method , bit time consuming but you'll be able to buy a new better ship in no time.

tip: if you've inherited a damaged spaceship from a planet , rather then fix it's slots , look to trade it in @ either the Space Station or Trading Posts!

Good Luck.
