I got nms the day it came out, actually I pre-ordered it, and it worked great for me right off. okay, I did get that space boost once and awhile, I have not had for awhile though, and some other small problems (the games only crashed on me once). so what I want to know- what do you think of the 1.07 update and do I really need it? yes, I've read all the update files and fixes, but I don't know if I should go ahead and update my game. let me know your thoughts. I'm not a fan of automatic updates, be it for my OS or a game. I've had quite a few patches down the years that made a game worse for me, in one way or another, so having the choice about when and if i run an update is hugely important for me.

1.07 seems a fine patch, and in truth so does 1.09 (we GOG users do not have the same loss of functionality that Steam users have on that patch by all accounts).

When i got the game from GOG the base version was already at v1.07 so i've been using that from day 1 of my enjoyable experience with NMS. I added 1.09 after about 6 hours playing/testing and not had any problems with it. FPS is about the same, anywhere between the 20-40 range depending. My PC is not a monster gaming one, but NMS runs well enough, and has been running well enough on the base 1.07 version and with the 1.09 patch.

I would say update. It looks like 1.09 also contains some other things not covered in the patch notes, one of those making the terrain much more variable. Just landed on a planet with huge mountains and caverns in one area, and plateaus and wide valleys in another.

Runs much smoother on my machine too.
