So?

Even a Veteran Rock Band can release a CD of shitty songs once in a while

Exactly. Maybe they weren't ready to handle a project this size with such a small team.

...because.. the actual game is mostly a success. While the PR operation directed at the Jim Sterlings of our fair planet failed?

As opposed what normally happens, which is that the PR operation is mostly a success. While the game itself sucks donkey-semen out of a hose?

Except that it's fine, because the fanboys think it's delicious milk? And constantly tell all their friends on tje internet to try it too. Because obviously the Jim Sterlings and Greg Millers of this fair planet of ours wouln't possibly be putting their careers on the line to promote children drinking donkey semen. No matter how much advertisement money was at stake. Because that stands to reason. Since they've never been caught selling donkey-semen in milk-cartons for the dairy industry before.

..you know.. just trying to visualise the situation here, to better understand why someone would willingly be chugging donkey-semen. And brag about it afterwards.

But if you look at the hype that they encouraged, they should have expected this. Especially being as experienced as they are.

At the end it doesn't matter. Maybe they were ready for the shtstorm.
If they had stayed like an early-access , they would only have made a fraction of the money they made right now.
The game is a commercial success, even if these guys disappear forever , they are walking
away with at least 10 million /head.

10 million? A head? Nonsense.
Hahaha. Oh, yeah, every developer of games start doing it professionally for the instant millions - or at worst, the 6 months delayed millions. Everyone knows that. Common knowledge.
Well, I had fun with the game for about 30 hours. It was not the kind of fun I expected because of the misleading information we got from Sean Murray though. But that fun fades quite fast. After a while you have seen everything - well at least it feels like. And the thrill of getting the right size of equipment ends quite soon. There is absolutely no "high end" content at all. It just doesn't make sense to continue playing - there is no reward whatsoever.

But nevertheless I don't regret to have bought the game, I just regret to have paid 60€. And even more to have bought it as preorder. Again. I really, really should stop doing this.

So in the end No Man's Sky comes down to those resolutions:

No preorders!
No crowd financing!
No money until it's the game I really want!
