I've heard a bunch of horror stories about performance- is the GOG release just as good/bad as the Steam release in regards to optimisation?

How well would it perform on Intel Pentium G4560 with a GTX 1050ti and 8GB of DDR4-2400 RAM?
I want to run it at least at 45FPS+.

Cheers all!
GOG and Steam sell the same programs--exactly. The only difference is that GOG doesn't update as fast as Steam because of the way GOG interfaces with developers. But, that seems to be changing with Galaxy--I've seen updates made available through Galaxy days before they are updated for the general download database. In fact, I've started using Galaxy to update my GOG games now, even though I generally don't install through Galaxy--but I simply import the game folders into Galaxy, check the updating, and then turn Galaxy off. It's been 18 years since my last Intel cpu of any description, so I couldn't tell you what to expect with the new Pentiums...sorry...;)

Performance of the game will be the same no matter what platform you use to run it from. Having said that general performance has become worse as we get each new update from Hello Games, and mostly that is related to them improving the graphics of the game (heavier load on your GPU etc).

I have been running the game since the first version, and using just a humble GTX 750Ti (2GB), and while i have not tried this latest update yet (i will wait a month or two for the problems to be patched out), my average 30-40 fps for the initial game has dropped to an average 20-35 fps with the last Pathfinder update. I also started to get many more fps drops, but found that if i dropped the texture detail down to 'low' those went away, and the reason for that was on 'medium' texture settings my GPU ram was being used up (so it was using more than the 2GB) from time to time which caused the fps drops.

Looking at your hardware i'd say that 1050Ti (4GB) and your system RAM are both fine, a 1050Ti would be my lowest choice of GPU for NMS on PC, looking at how the graphics have become more demanding over time, but you might have a CPU issue as G4's are not the best at gaming. Having said that your best bet is to try it and see what performance you get, but reduce your expectations as high fps in NMS is hard to get (especially on planets).

Appreciate the reply! Forgot I left this up.
I bought R3 1200 instead of the G4560. Runs great!
