So with the game being on sale I'm considering getting it.

When I tried it out at release (bought it at steam but refunded because of performance issues) the low FPS and crashes were really horrible for me. How have the patches since then impacted this, is the game still suffering from horrible stutter or is the FPS actually pretty smooth now?

I have i5 4690k, 16gb ram, GTX970 if that would for determining how FPS would be.

Thanks for reading this.
They patched it up pretty quick and as of today we are on the 6th or 7th patch for PC. I came in at patch version 1.07 and by then all the main performance issues had seemed to be fixed. The game engine is what it is and with little user control over various things (like draw distance etc) you are always not likely to find it as fluid as the bigger AAA titles.

My system is an i5@3.1Ghz, 8GB ram and a GTX 750 Ti (2GB). I get around 30 fps on medium settings, just to give you an idea vs your more powerful hardware.

As this is not a MP PvP game the fps is not that important, as long as it runs reasonably smooth you can enjoy it at the fps i run at. It's a bit like Morrowind in that respect.

The main question you need to ask is will you like the game even if the performance is better than when you last tried it? They are not giving refunds anymore, so if you got into the NMS hate thing, you might still find it hard to enjoy the game?

Is it true?
Store page still says "MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. 30 days coverage after purchase."
If you're right, I see a lot of new sh...ehm...'troubles' incoming!
I meant in relation to people that do not have a technical issue etc. Steam still has it's refund policy as does GOG, but in the early days when some people got refunds outside of those terms, that will no longer happen it seems.

I see. Thanks.
Thanks for the replies everyone! I've been thinking a lot and I just bought the game! I know what to expect from it and I'm glad the technical issues have been (mostly?) fixed so that will mean I'm fine with the game especially at this price.

I never really got into the NMS hype pre-release so all that stuff has not influenced me about the game, for me it was mainly the bad technical stuff at launch. :)
