hi all,
Been keeping a loose eye on some games and this is one of them. Currently on sale, however i am wondering whether the game is worth it for a single player experience?. Pro con's?.

Yes its quite a good game, i play it 95% of the time in single player mode. Multiplayer can help a bit in the anomaly when your looking for some hard to find item, the community is one of the best i have ever seen for a game and tends to help those that ask for help. I've played for years and am always enjoy the game especially when new patches come out.

I like this game very much and I entirely ignore the multiplayer aspect of it.

Unless you really go out of your way to seek other players and team up with them, there's only one spot, a central space station acting as some sort of hub, to which you can teleport back and forth, where you'll see their immersion-breaking usernames and bunny hopping (and sometimes get their invitations, which you can ignore). Visits to that station are the only moments where the presence of other players is reminded to you. The in-game universe is vast, and it's statistically unlikely to cross anyone's path by accident. I did stumble upon a few planets that had been already discovered by gog users, three years before. That's all.

You can get some cosmetic rewards if you team up with other players at the hub, for some missions, but you can also try the missions on your own if you wish, and I haven't bothered anyway. The single player content is already near infinite, I have no real reason to branch into that.

However, it's also a construction game. And I can imagine that, after a long while, it can get fun to share your intricate, majestic bases with the public, or to actvely visit the ones they've designed instead of just beholding them like terraria or kerbal screenshots on a forum. But again, there's no obligation.

And without these interaction, mapping the galaxy is also psychologically more amusing when you know that it exists outside your computer in a shared universe, and that you're going all Darwin on species, plants, minerals, systems that others might potentially find as named by you. It makes it more amusing. You can be an explorer for others' behalf.

I'd say, as someone who isn't keen on multiplayer, that No Man's Sky gets the best of both world. A shared universe without really having to deal personally with other players.

I enjoy No Man's Sky very much. I consider the gameplay quite chill. If you're the type of gamer that enjoys exploration, surviving weather elements and collecting resources in order to create stuff to build bases and new tech, then this game may be for you. There is a main story line and side-quest missions, but you are free to roam about freely and play how you want in this sandbox game. Singleplayer is fun! There are enough creatures (which you can adopt as pets!), NPC's and space pirates to make singleplayer mode feel more "lived in" and less lonesome. Another wonderful thing about the recent game updates is that you can define the kind of gameplay you wish to experience. For example: if you want extreme challenges and hardcore gameplay, you can play in permadeath mode. On the other extreme, if you're style is more relaxed, you can choose to deactivate things like aggressive creatures and pirate attack events. You can taylor the gameplay to your liking! There's so much to cover, so I'll keep things brief.

Hope this helps. If you have any further questions that may assist in your decision to buy or not, please let us know! ;)

I enjoy the chill factor of the game. That being said, don't buy the here at Gog, there is something wrong with Gog games, not just this one. Gog games are no longer playable. At some point they will just eliminate a key feature (while you are playing), and the game will never work right again. This has happened to other Gog games I have. To me all my Gog games are just so much trash, not worth wasting any more time on. At this point Gog is dead to me.

What!?

I play several GOG games regularly, and they work just fine (including No Man's Sky).

Not sure what is "wrong" on your end, but perhaps it isn't "GOG" but instead are other issues?

Wrong ! Case & Point CD Projekt Red. Their latest "updates" makes it so games don't work with Win 7/8.1. So all you have to do is revert to the earliest version that did work. Mine being Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. These are not GoG updates but developer updates. I suspect NMS is suffering worse problems with cloud saves deleted and inability to save now, still trying to find a solution for HelloGames.

You know that No Man's Sky also doesn't support Windows 7/8 on Steam anymore?
https://store.steampowered.com/app/275850/No_Mans_Sky/

Also Steam shuts down Windows 7 / 8 support completly on january 1st 2024, so you won't be able to play the game anymore if you're using Win 7 / 8 and steam, while you still can play older versions using GOG.

You wouldn't know someone who knows someone who can remove DRM from Steam and create a stand alone binary .exe ? I have way too many titles there. EA already took my 13 titles I had there.
Unfortunately, GoG has none of those 13 and even fewer on the ones I have on Steam.
The only one I found I could buy on GoG was Skyrim SE, excellent but alone.
This is an Evil practice indeed - You will own nothing, because we'll steal everything from you...

Gog selling DMR free games is nothing more than a advertising gimmick, and lie. If you own, or buy a game from 2K you will have to agree to having a Spybot installed on your computer. Hardly DMR free.

You clearly do not understand DRM and shouldn't benefit from GoG.
Any game you buy on GoG you can play without a launcher, PERIOD.
I can uninstall GoG Galaxy forever and still play my games, none of the DRM platforms allow you to do that. DRM free games also launch without spyware, your ignorance of tech. is showing. I flip off 2K by clicking cancel on login, that easy.
