Aren't we supposed to have scanner upgrades for the ship?
There is a tab for it. It looks like another feature, that was cut out.

Might be just me, but the ship scans only while in space. As soon as I fly over the planet all the scanner comes up with are drop pods.
Upgraded the rest of the ship tech almost full circle - scanner: no clue, no blueprints, no alien goods.
In the end I do not use the ship scanner at all.

I'd rather have the ship scanner be able to tell exactly what is contained in an asteroid before shooting it. It seems to highlight asteroids but that's it.
