Does anybody know if NMS has a built-in screenshot key? I know F12 works for those on Steam, and CTRL-PRTSCRN copies it to the clipboard.

But looking for native way to save to a folder. Or are there good programs to use for this?

Not sure if there is a quick key for it but as for programs I'd recommend trying out fraps.
Just careful with the fraps hotkeys as it can also capture video and that eats up space real fast.
Oh and do get the free version of it for starters, need nothing more unless you want to really capture video.
An ingame camera key would be nice.

I"m using Fraps free right now. You can disable the framerate overlay. Just keep in mind that Fraps Free version only exports as BMP so they are big.

Does anyone know of a way to get rid of the UI easily? The game doesn't have a toggle that I can find--whether I tap or press-and-hold the "show HUD" key it does nothing, yet I've seen screenshots posted by players that contain no UI. My screenshots are always messy with not only the HUD but all the little icons everywhere, kinda ruins what could otherwise be good wallpaper.

hmmm. The `H` key gets rid of the interface easily enough. In the options there`s a setting to get rid of it too.
Could also just add the exe to steam and use F12, that's what I do.

Have tried this and it works fine, but would like a way to take a screenshot in GOG Galaxy without having to use Steam....just for completeness more than anything else.

Can you tell me how the H key works or where the option is? I've looked through the settings and don't see anything for UI. Also with H I've tried both tapping and holding it. The only thing it has done is when I'm in a ship and the UI has faded away to minimal, it brings it back.

BTW I'm on foot most the time, and that is where I'm trying to use it, in case behavior is different on foot/in ship.
You could also launch nms.exe from Steam as long as you have the Galaxy client running as well, the online will still work. You can check I have a section of screenshots on Steam for "No Man's Sky - GoG"

I've been using Fraps. It has been working good so far, including a FPS counter in the corner as well. 70-80fps averaging with everything on.

Go into graphics look on the list on the right side. It says `HUD` and set to off. I don`t know if it gets rid of all the Hud, as I haven`t tried it.

The `H` button removes the UI and brings it back when I press it. It gets rid of the suit and health gauges, but often it goes off by itself anyway. It doesn`t seem to get rid of every icon, but the HUD in options might do it.
Switch to Borderless (in options requires restart game) and then use windows key + s or windows key + printscreen

Works for me

Pictures will be in screenshot folder in Pictures (think this might only be windows 8 / 10 feature)

Thanks, there is a "Show HUD" option under Graphics, on the right column. I didn't see that before. It does get rid of the HUD totally. The HUD stays totally off until you go into the menu and turn it back on.

H doesn't work for me to get rid of the HUD. Parts of it do fade sometimes on their own, but a lot of times they stick around on the screen. Also sometimes something cool comes up and I want to take a quick screenshot before the situation changes, but the HUD is still up. Hopefully they'll add a HUD toggle option.
