Hi.

Can I please have back overlay support in NMS ? Anyone else missing being able to for example take in-game screenshots at will, and not just at times NMS will allow Camera Mode, or get Notifications in game, rather than to have to tab out ocassionally in order to check ?

GOG Support tried to fix this but the problem lies within the game. GOG gave up after a couple of weeks of looking into this. Hello Games does not appear to read this forum let alone respond.
If you are on Windows 10, do you know about Game Bar?

In game press Win key + G, then you can use its screenshot or video, they save to your Video / Capture folder.

Videos are in .mp4 format, while taking a video click anywhere on the game screen and game bar vanishes while still recording, then after capturing the video you want press Win key + G again and stop the recording

Screenshots are lossless .png format

No need for Steam / Galaxy / Geforce Experience or any other overlays.

You also use Game bar settings to make sure Windows cuts down on background processes when a game is running, and set which GPU to use as High Performance .. See attached screenshots

While I'm usually first in line for putting blame on HG, rather than GoG, I beg to differ on this one. Sure, if we're talking about real integration by means of e.g. being able to invite friends using the GoG client rather than the in-game mechanisms, then, yes, cooperation from HG is indeed needed, since that requires insight into the protocol(s) and API(s) involved.

Being able to at least pop-in Galaxy notifications or take screenshots isn't something, which requires information from HG (there's quite a few tools, who are able to take screenshots or display information in an overlay using Vulkan). It requires GoG to adapt their existing code to how Vulkan needs this to be done.

IOW: I see no reason for the lacking overlay support in NMS, other than GoG assuming, that it's simply not worth the effort currently. But then, I'm surely not a Vulkan API expert.

Edit: Screenshots only work in non-fullscreen mode with the tools I tried, and it has been like this even before the overlay stopped working, IIRC.

Didn't know about that Windows 10 feature -- thanks for pointing me to it (and even going through the length of providing screenshots :) ). I'm currently mostly gaming on Windows 7, though.

Have to agree here. If the Steam client can take screenies of NMS, then GOG's client should be able to as well. If the development team can't figure it out, it really erodes my confidence in their client.

I'd at least like to get kind of an official statement from GoG (a public posting in this forum). If contrary to what I assume, overlaying / grabbing the framebuffer of another process in Vulkan requires cooperation from the owning process (security implications aside), then I'll happily stand corrected -- and will get back to my routine of blaming HG :]
Me too miss the Overlay function in Galaxy Client, but I'll wait until Galaxy 2.0 are here.
I have a small hope it gets fixed then.
