I suppose it had to happen eventually with this kind of game...

Was flying in Hyper speed to a planet in the system with about 60 seconds to go (which in normal time is like 3 hours plus I think). Got attacked by 3 pirate ships forcing me to drop out of Hyper. I destroyed 2 ships, but I couldn`t see the 3rd. Maybe I got them all, I thought.

Finally, I realised the 3rd Pirate was somehow thousands of miles away in the opposite direction as my target crosshairs marked it. My note on the bottom right kept telling me to `Protect my cargo` and there was 1 pirate left. Seeing that this pirate was so far away I tried getting back to Hyper speed for the planet, but of course the ship won`t enter Hyperspace due to `Local hostile interference`, but the enemy ship wasn`t local. I tried just boosting to the planet, I couldn`t see the timer, but from previous experience it would take hours to get there minimum.

I tried turning back to the super-far-away prate ship. After about 5 minutes I gave up. The closer Starbase was an hour away and the pirate ship was further than that.

Had to quit. :(

Hope they fix this bug... maybe adding Cops that actually go after pirates would be one solution?
Did you ever come up with a solution? One easy solution that comes to mind would be to crash into enough asteroids until you die. That kinda ducks but way better than starting over or flying for many hours to whatever is nearest.

*Just realized if you quit you would have gone back to your last save which probably a better fix than what I suggested. Guessing that's what you did.

It's possible to boost away from the pulse-inhibitor as well. Takes a while, and the pirates are quick - but it works to run away even if they're locked on and firing at you as you jump to pulse. Or you can break off down to a planet. Even if you've engaged the ships, they basically disappear or give up once you're far enough away from the point you were attacked.

But saw one of those third in a group pirate ships on the opposite end of the map once too. Seems that when you engage ships, two and two ships start attacking you back (think every one turned hostile at the same time on the first patch). So if you have one extra ship, it doesn't count in the freighter defense. And could be either on the other end of the solar system, or right next to you, still attacking the freighter when you get a mission success.. Might be there's something else/gamebreaking bug happening with the pirate attack scans if you get that third ship in one of those groups?
I was just too far away from the nearest planet (and the star base) to boost-run to it. It would`ve taken hours to get there.

In the end I just quit and it reloaded me back at the nearest starbase. I headed for the same planet and was attacked again, but this time no bug.

Tape the gamepad button down or put a heavy object on the keyboard and take a nap ;)

But seriously, that is a sh!tty bug there. Thanks for the head up that it might happen.
