If you are NOT using the Galaxy version of the game (you have not installed the game via the "Install" button in Galaxy), then you are OK to use it as this patch is for those who do not wish to use GOG Galaxy in any shape or form :)
Thank you for answering my question. No install from any Galaxy client .., just the warning from the patch made me thing i got something messed up! ^^

Yeah that warning is there just in case someone did install the game from Galaxy rather than the offline installers :) Glad to hear it made you stop and think as most people would just blindly click past such a thing nowadays :P

I've tested the offline version of the game with one of our patches where it flashes the warning and everything worked fine on my home machine so you should be OK as well :) In any case, if you experience problems after applying the patch, please do not hesitate to let us know :)

What I do is downloading the installer and core files again when a new patch arises. I reinstall the game over the old installation folder and then, apply the patch.

Of course I do a savegame backup before the reinstall.
Hm.. I installed from the downloaded setup_no_mans_sky_2.0.0.2.exe originally. When I found out I needed Galaxy for uploading, I installed that at let it find my game install.

At this point, am I considered to have the Galaxy version?

I downloaded the 20MB patch, ran it and got that same warning, so I figured I'd better fire up Galaxy and let it do the patching. I was a bit annoyed that Galaxy was downloading 1.4GB to patch.

Is Zimnel's method a valid workaround? (ie next patch, reinstall game from 2.0.0.2.exe, apply small patch, then let Galaxy rediscover the game?)
I believe you can just use Galaxy to verify the game install in order to properly convert it to online play.

I initially installed with the files that I directly downloaded from the site. I then installed Galaxy in order to keep the game updated. Every patch seemed to be OK at first, but stuttering and pausing became more severe the longer I played. I verified the install with Galaxy last night, and it did appear to correct some issues it found. I then played for a couple hours with only a couple minor glitches.
