XenonS: And all this seems not to be noticed by developers in the gaming branch? Like Hello Games? Maybe it's there where you shoud address your concerns. Without the above change there is no online connectivity in the game for Windows 7 - and some Windows 10 users. How is that? And what do you propose as a working alternative? I'm glad to hear about...

alt3rn1ty: HelloGames assume you are using the Galaxy or Steam Clients, or, the offline backup installers from GOG without any connectivity (the clue is in the word offline). I have not seen Hellogames endorse the procedures that you have proposed as good advice anywhere - They do not assume random forum participants will post workarounds for the none-connectivity of the offline backup installers by posting bad advice.

Thats all your doing, not Hellogames.

Are you trying to get everyone to use old protocols so that you can exploit them?. All you are doing here is trying to pick holes in what I am posting, what is your reason for doing that?.

I can reasonably assume the majority of gamers will not even consider having another machine for important communications, the majority who have probably never heard of such issues / exploits will use the same machine for everything.

What I propose is we use the Offline Backup installers as they were intended by Hellogames = Offline.
Or use the GOG Galaxy client.

When Hellogames first started making this game, half the issues with old SSL and newer TLS protocols were not an issue.

In hindsight Hellogames could advise people on older windows to upgrade .. But they cant really, thats down to individual circumstances / finances. Unfortunate for some, but thats the way the wind blows sometimes with technology and emerging issues.
If you quote me, you must be exact, sorry. Re-read my post, it has changed, you don't seem to be very attentive.
Then, you say
"What I propose is we use the Offline Backup installers as they were intended by Hellogames = Offline.
Or use the GOG Galaxy client."
But that's exactly what I'm doing - and propose doing. Nothing else. For some users this will not work however and I give a possible solution. You are free to like it or not, and please: stop your ridiculous presumptions about my intentions. You don't have a crystal sphere to read my mind, so nobody will take you seriously if you go on.
People will make their own minds up from what has been said already.

If you are going to edit previous posts which anyone responding cannot anticipate, make sure you revisit the ones giving bad advice to vulnerable people.

Alt out.
To check again - and taking the adventurous replies from alt3rn1ty into account - I have deinstalled my said KB, essentially reverting to normal my Window 7 settings as before this KB, to see if the newest GoG Galaxy Update allows for online connectivity, and the response is: YES.

So, from now on (25.09.2019) it will be enough to launch GoG Galaxy and start your game from there, Galaxy will recognize your installation done by the 'Offline Game Installers'. So NO NEED ANYMORE to make the registry changes i talked about above.

@alt3rn1ty ,
too bad that all your rage in your past reply was - as we say in Germany: Für die Katze. But to alleviate your suspicions about my intentions I can now reveal to you: I was just too lazy to re-download the entire game in GoG Galaxy with my simple WiFi connection which would take approx. 2 days at 60 Kbytes / second. I hope that's enough to 'tame' your bad suspicions :)
