I have heard of a rumor that there will be no more content updates for no man's sky. Is this true?

No.

Actually, 45 minutes ago a new update went live on Steam.

Should show up here on GoG before too long. Expect the usual "GoG never gets updates / GoG updates are always sooooo late. Where is the update?!" complaints.

Edit: Nevermind. Downloading the 1.7GB update right now.

I just saw that.
Would be nice if they ever manage a "quality of life" update.

You know, for example just make all inventories work the same and not a different scheme for every single one of them.

Stuff like that.

Or allow multiple space stations per star system.

Allow different types of space stations.

Allow space stations to have different layouts. Like, one space station has all the shops, while another only has some.

Add more races.

Add FEMALES.

Allow star systems to have planets you cant land on (gas giants).

Allow asteroid belts with asteroids that have almost no gravity.

Let planets without air actually have no air.

Add city planets.

Add military starships.

Have systems with city planets also have a military outposts with douzens or hundreds of military starships.

Etc etc etc

I hope not.

Then they'd have to add MALES too.

These are ALIENS - not Mammals - they're aren't either male or female.

It would be virtue-signaling B.S. to add females or males (unless they have Earth as one of the planets - then there it would work).

Other than a couple of posts at initial release Hello Games does not participate in the GOG forum and there is indication or reason to believe that they ever read any posts as GOG users are being left behind the preferred platforms of consoles with Steam receiving the only attention on PC.

Your only chance to have this noticed is to make a suggestion via the support requests or join Steam and post there.

Not unreasonable. While the alien races are, well, alien and there's no reason to expect that they would conform to H. sapiens morphology, the "Anomaly" type available in the Appearance Modifier is clearly intended to be humanoid. Since there is sexual dimorphism in the general structure of the adult human form, it's reasonable to expect that the suited Anomaly-style avatars would reflect that. There is one body form which kinda sorta maybe looks female but HG could do better.

While I would hope that HG doesn't go overboard, the covers of classic SciFi novels on which NMS is ostensibly based often depicted rather, er, obvious females, so there's that argument as well. ;-)
Damn, I finally played this and man I wish I had not.

If they add enough stuff for sequel I might check it again.
Its not "virtue signaling" that you dont want to have a game full of males and the existing races are already all clearly males.
