EDIT:
It seems like the disconnect issue was server-side, and at least some Steam users were affected as well.
It was resolved after 2-3 days, with no action necessary by us users.
Original post for the sake of completion:

Greetings,

TLDR: Multiplayer works yesterday, today no connection for GOG users only (steam works)

Yesterday 2 friends and I bought NMS and played together, no issues.
1 friend is on Steam, 1 friend and me are on GOG.
Today, us 2 GOG users can't get into multiplayer anymore. Steam works fine.

I'm on Windows 11, other GOG is on Windows 10.
Naturally I assumed it's the firewall, considering that between yesterday and today the only difference is that we shut down the PC's and restarted at some point.

I completely uninstalled my security and disabled the windows defender, issue persists.
Scoured the internet for hours, only old and/or unsolved posts.
Reinstalled the game entirely, started a new game, and a couple more weird attempts.

The other friend even tested the steam version on my pc, and that works!

It seems to be a problem exclusively with GOG, at least for us currently.
Just wondering if someone has any ideas, because I like GOG. T
rying to avoid having to switch to steam here.

Help would be appreciated!

I joined, yesterday played well, today I start, and no connection to the game servers, on the Internet I read that the settings need to put the automatic setting of time, also read somewhere that on Windows 10 home has such a problem, but you have Windows 11, wrote to support waiting for an answer
HI I am having same issues, yesterday i played online without problems, in Steam my friends are playing without problems
It's unfortunate that you guys are on day two, so you are seeing a "this problem strikes half the time." For me, this is the third time in probably a thousand days of playing. The last two times it resolved in a day or less, so my advice is to just not panic.

I know on the second day that would be a lot harder.
Ran into the same problem today as well, thought it might have been a mod until I ditched it only to find it still wasn't connecting. So then I tried disco/reco ethernet while in the Nexus, time and date settings, messed with router settings, verified game files, uninstalled/reinstalled, and so on.

My wife checked her account on the Microsoft store side and it worked just fine, same with my brother on Steam.

Guess it might just be a GoG issue? :\
No mention if using GOG Galaxy or not.

I've noticed that when I play NMS without using Galaxy, I get that message probably 100% of the time (with approximately 2,000 hours of NMS play-time, I don't pay it much attention anymore so I'm not sure it's 100%, but IIRC, it is).

When I do use Galaxy, I only occasionally get that message (so then I've assumed it's an occasional glitch or something).

Mentioning that, just in case...
I am on Gog Galaxy and i am having the issues today too.

I can corroborate XBOX and Steam are qorking as my friends are online, it must be GOG problem

Martek: No mention if using GOG Galaxy or not.
Both us GOG users use GOG Galaxy. But I also tried launching it without it, which had no effect on the issue.
I admit, I was unaware GOG Galaxy had any effects apart from automatic updates. As far as I know, only Steam has this (definitely great) feature of providing games and game designers with an embedded connectivity function.

I usually wait a couple of days as well, but multiple things made me pro-actively look for a fix and get some other opinions here. The most important of which was:
(back in the day, fixed for a long while now) GOG's NMS version once upon a time had issues with connectivity and cross-play. Made me a bit skeptical, I'm sure you understand^^'

At any rate, thanks for sharing your experience. It's good to know how rare it is^^

Still, a more permanent solution would be nice, considering the discrepancy between the versions of GOG and the other platforms.

I'm pretty sue it's much more than just auto-updating.

The GOG Store page for NMS has the following disclaimer on it:

Please note: GOG GALAXY is required to access online features for No Man's Sky.
Also, besides the updating feature, and the noted "online features" that require Galaxy to access, Achievements are also tied to using Galaxy.
same problem since monday, finished expedition in weekend without problem, but now without connection

i tried to verify instalation, it dowloaded 64KB update, but nothing changed

I launch the game only through the GOG Galaxy but the problem is not going anywhere, I wrote to support yesterday still no answer, as I understand this problem only in GOG which is extremely disappointing, I trusted this store and decided to buy games here and support GOG and it turns out that I can not play online and official information from GOG no, and here you wait and hope until the problem is solved
Seems like most of the posters are of the opinion this is a GOG-only issue at this time, and that Steam users aren't also experiencing the issue.

However, a quick perusal of the Steam forum, just now, reveals the following thread that contradicts that notion - the issue *IS* apparently also affecting those users. Maybe it isn't a GOG-only problem at this time...?

/shrug

Reference thread (3 hours old at time of this writing):
Online Discovery Services down. Anyone else?
This wouldn't be a big deal, but the optional objectives are tied to online services. I'm now getting C-class upgrades because the game doesn't know the current progression level. I was getting B-class before the connection was lost.
ODS is down for everyone. Not just GOG.

jasondude7116: ODS is down for everyone. Not just GOG.
Maybe that changed from yesterday to now.

But as you surely have read, we confirmed yesterday that on the same machine No Man's Sky online services on Steam worked, yet on GOG Galaxy they did not.
At any rate we have little choice but to wait it out.
