I just got this game a few days ago, and have been wanting to play with a friend of mine on steam. We added each other on NMS with our friend codes, and every time I try to join him it says "Joining Lobby..." for a few seconds then flashes "Connecting..." for half a second and then disappears. I tried to host my own lobby and when my game loaded I went to the network section in settings and on my screen in red it flashed "NO CONNECTION TO MATCHMAKING SERVICES" for half a second. There is never anyone in the nexus when I visit it either. I just want to play some multiplayer and don't know where this problem lies, either on my end, a bug in the game, or the servers. Any help would be appreciated :)

There is already a thread regarding this issue, where you can also find a trick to gain temporary connection to online discovery services, here: https://www.gog.com/forum/no_mans_sky/origins_no_connection_to_online_discovery_services
where did the network go in the game, does anyone know? for several days, the signal in the "discoveries" tab is red; probably the server is not working again

The servers that handle the discoveries are on the Hello Games side and have been overloaded and drops the connections.

This has been a problem since day one although it took almost two years to fix when Hello Games by completely redesigning the database architecture.

When launching the game a connection is made but typically the user is disconnected before the game finishes loading which is why you will see the message that a Tier was completed after the game fully loads but by then the connection has been lost.

If you want to enable a temporary connection you can wait until the game is fully launched and then briefly disconnect from the Internet with game still running and then reconnect to the Internet. The game will reconnect to the Discovery Servers but the connection will be also be very brief. If you were already in the Nexus then this would enable the Quicksilver missions and Quicksilver bot. You can also then complete the upload of discoveries.

While the game will eventually transmit the data for uploaded discoveries you can also force this during the brief period of connection to the Discovery Servers. If you have previously attempted to upload discoveries you will already have been given the in-game reward so that will not be duplicated but clicking the Upload all button will complete the process.

Hello Games does not communicate or respond to users so we are left in the dark. The exception was over two years ago when they announced that database architecture had been redesigned.

this advice didn't help
this is surprising, but my connection to the server was successful today :)

I will hope that this is for a long time
