Again Hello Games introduced a new update that does not work for us offline players.
"Expeditions" introduced a new gamemode that is only available while you are playing online.

In the past we had updates like "Living Ship" that were (when released) also only available for Online Users.

As some may know I'm creating mods and I'm also always intrested in finding solutions for things like that.
With my tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhbQaX9f8AM&t=1s) I made it possible that offline players were able to use the Quicksilver store, which by default wasn't the case prior to the Origins update.

Now we have the next "problem". I created this Thread so that you can write ideas or even solutions on how we could get this to work offline.

If I find i solution myself, i will ofcourse post it here, too.

It might be that we can't find a solution, but I will try and hope to have good news for everyone soon :)

First Workaround (not a good solution):

So far i don't have any solution to do this without GOG Galaxy.

But what you can do is:

1.) Install GOG Galaxy (also works with Win 7, even if it says it doesn't)
2.) Start GOG Galaxy
3.) Start your Offline No Man's Sky.
4.) Start the new "EXPEDITION" Gamemode.
5.) Save the game
6.) Exit the game
7.) Close GOG Galaxy
8.) Start the game again
9.) Resume your saved game

This way you only need GOG Galaxy to start a new Expedition game.

But this also means that all files you need are already stored on your pc, and that is very good for us, because I am very convinced that we will find a way in the future, to make this work offline.
The savegame is also about the same size than normal game modes, so there's not much being downloaded while
the game starts the new savegame.

I'll keep you informed, have fun!
Basically, as soon as read about "time limits" I lost interest in Expedition. I think abolishing those would be good fodder for a mod...;)
Have expected this.

The describe for expeditions say me, that is for multiplayer only, an expansion of community weekend events as an modus of the game.

I can understand HG, demands for multiplayer was massive and this is an good field to spread the gamer base.

I believe on you @AlpakeDream, that you can find a way for us to participate on this, but not, then is this a thing, that we Offline players have to accept and hope for new updates, the giving us more fun and long term motivation.

Today, is time for looking patches for expeditions. Now is have many bugs, is a chance, that come the things right still.

By the way: 3.32 is available with offline installer.

There is no reason to play with a bunch of asshole griefers, fuck MMOs I wish they would go their separate ways and leave the SP, alone! Most assholes that scream for MMO modes are griefers themselves!
As others have said, reading about it it seemed like an expansion of the nexus missions, which are what killed my joy in the game.

"experiment with new ways of playing No Man’s Sky" = We're going to force you to play and love every part of the game. Or else you miss out forever on shinies.

And I also can't stand limited time event crap.

I tried it though, and if it's any consolation for the OP, it also doesn't completely work for online players.

I hit some stupid bug which wouldn't allow me to build a portable refiner, necessary to fix the damned crashed ship. No edit permission. Luckily I'm familiar with the game and base building so knew to try running far enough away from the ship, or POI or whatever the game thought I was trying to illegally build on.

Plus rather than your character, you have to play a completely new one, with random head and appearance. Sure, that's fun.

Coming back to the OP's point, I agree. This was originally sold as a single-player game with limited multiplayer, but definitely playable solo and offline. While you can still play solo and offline without the rewards you miss out on, my view is that no that's not acceptable. You no longer have full access to the entire game, which you entirely paid for.

Hopefully for your sake someone figures out how to implement these rewards with a cheat or mod for offline players.

.

Aren't the rewards mostly stuff we have already bought from the Quicksilver shop? (and still can get since they allowed us access to the full list. I guess there will be new items added, but then HG will probably allow us access to the new full list at some point in the future like they did previously).

I know there is a golden starship which is unique, but personally I'm happy with the unique ship we got as a DLC for pre-ordering, which nobody else newer to the game can get, and is far more expandable now in its capabilities / slots than it was when the game first released.

So new gold ship, is there anything else we are actually missing? (having chosen to be offline no-multiplayer players).
Some new banners / badges / flag, some Expeditions achievements = Tat we dont need, and achievements we dont get ordinarily anyway if not using GOG Galaxy.
Edit : Oh yes, a new Jetpack, doesn't look like it has room for the integrated 'Personal Refiner' which I always use instead of the 'Portable refiner'.

Plus you have to join Twitch, thanks but no thanks :)

Just a reminder, Hellogames recently added a note to the games page https://www.gog.com/game/no_mans_sky

"Please note: GOG GALAXY is required to access online features for No Man's Sky.

The game features online components introduced in updates (SYNTHESIS, BYTEBEAT, LIVING SHIP, EXO MECH, CROSSPLAY, DESOLATION and ORIGINS) that require Internet connection.

Cross-platform multiplayer is supported."

This note pre-dates Expeditions.

I am not being a typical fan boy here and siding with HG on the way the game has developed, personally I bought a single player game too, and I really dont like that they added that note quoted above years after the game went on sale = Giving them the ability to shift the goal posts. Its feels a bit like facebook adding more features, changing the T&Cs, and making more layers of on-by-default bad options for privacy in a seemingly innocent update.

But really now we cant complain, we are still getting free updates with extra content and good design changes plus fixes 4 years after release, and nothing we could do in the game at release has been taken away.

If we choose to be offline completely then we cant participate in the online features added.

To have "full access to the entire game" you need to be online.

The single player game we paid for, we still have. For us it has vastly expanded since it has released. And to be fair multi-players who bought this should get new features / content too right?. If they dont keep the biggest portion of the crowd happy then the life expectancy of support from HG rapidly declines and they move on to more financially viable projects.

The only thing I wish for is they fix all the bugs which are years old. The game is still superb.

And the only change I dont like with expeditions is they have made the Living Ship mission easier to find the 'parts' by not needing to use the planetary coordinates = Nerfed a good puzzle :).

But then, I do like the new Target sweep mode of the Scanner.

Just a reminder.

Many people bought the game LONG before this update or note.
Today i played a bit with the save files.
Trying to make a "Normal" Save into a "Expedition" save.
Thought that might be a workaround for now.

Unfortunately, when doing this, after loading the save it tells you that your expedition has ended.

I'll keep you informed
