So after years of following the sky high promises,
the grotesque release state and redemptive arch, i have deemed "the beyond" as good time to hop in.

For loong while i have been looking for a game that would fill my Freelancer shaped hole in the heart. Yet present something interesting as an added twist. I have unsuxcesfully attempted to fill it with: Ellite Dangerous, Starpoint gemini 2 and even was so desperate, i nearly conssidered the star citizen *shakes in desdain at paast nigh-sins*.

But no man's sky seems to be, at very least, steping in right direction (thanks Andy Murray "Molenus Deux" your promises did stick with me inspite of the horrid start).

Anny beginer tips? such as what would be best mode to start off in? (maybe some sort of sandbox or training or even exploration, i do not feel like survivall mode), is there a way i could actually coop play with strangers?

Halo games managed to do massive ammounts of work so i want the best impression i can get for first time player.

Well I only do Solo and in Survival too. Survival isn`t that hard, but ok do the Normal which is almost the same except not quite as many werid things get mad at you for being nosey.

To be honest it depends what you want to get out of it. This is really a `go your own way` sandbox game with a zillion planets to explore that will be unique to your eyes.

It`s different to Freelancer in that you don`t really get story. There is a story of a sort, but it isn`t meant to be the game`s strong point. You will get random missions to get bounties or find salvage, but it`s very much you do you.

It`s really about the exploration, finding and seeing new and different wonders that the procedeurally dynamic engine can throw at you.

For me, I skipped the hand-holding start after fixing my ship, which you really need to do, and just jumped to the next planet, explored it found a crashed Freighter and dug up some buried stuff. Found a really valuable white ball thing (I forget what it`s called). this made the Sentinels mad and I had to skip planet fast.

Then I went to the next System and landed at a Base station to sell my goods and buy stuff. Wanted to buy a better gun and ship couldn`t afford it, but got better protection for underwater diving. Changed my suit to Red and Blue instead of yellow.

Landed on another planet where I saw these strange Fidget spinner type aliens and trees. Fascinating it was, especially when one attacked me and I had to run again.

Then I found a huge mysterious round thing that started revolving when I played with the buttons, etc, etc, etc. 5 hours and I haven`t even touch building a home, driving a buggy or owning a Freighter yet!

That gives you an idea what it`s like.

I waffled a bit there, but if you take it for what it is, it`s actually quite amazing.

Hi! having your first introduction to NMS in the Beyond update is probably not the best place to start unfortunately, if you can get your hands on Visions v1.77 i would recommend starting your NMS journey with that update!. Beyond is full of game breaking bugs the VR is janky and you can't even rebind your keys because the game is that broken at this point in time and has countless other issues, if your looking for a good "Freelancer" replacement try "Rebel Galaxy Outlaw" it's mighty fine and shiny indeed. Just let NMS Beyond pass you by for now it's not worth it in it's current state! pick it up in a few months when and if the issues are all fixed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyTJoG5eLuw

waffle away, please .)
i do get the sense that i might like it on merrits of exploration as you pointed out - there might be bunch of oddball things.

You mentioned sentilnells, i assume those are somehow related to the wreked freighter? as in surviving deffense systems?
If so could those be biefriended and maybe used to fix up the freigher?

thank you for reply i shall do the normal one as i do feel like ill need hand holding to get some grasp of the universe.

Normally I would say don't start now, wait till xmas or something for a lot of things to be fixed but...
If you already have the game and want to play now then stick to Normal mode and then just follow the "tutorial" without worrying too much about your choices like where and what base did you build and on what planet. Just go with the quests.

Creative mode is nice to test end experiment with how to build your base but without proper introduction to certain things via tutorial you might be a bit confused later on in normal mode if spend too much time in creative.

It's almost like Elite, you have to find you own way of having fun with this game.

right an update:
thanks contributors to this forums and especially gentlemen (or ladies i do not know nor care)

i have kinda spent a "short time" playing the game and just checked the playtime is nearly 10 hours.
sufficed to say i might just be enjoying the game. normal mode seems to ave cut it, whilst i do have some problems i have yet to complete entire tutorial so that might get ironed out eventually (i am playing it mine craft way but can not craft a storage so constantly having to ditch resources, i do not have any grasp on gardening tho i have none in real world either)

should either of you want to see my silly hut in middle of nowhere, we can start talks on how one gets to the multiplayer aspect .) else know that your tips led to quite sizable amount of enjoyment so thank you

Haha. I`m the same. I refuse to pander to the politically correct `him\her` for every sentence I make. I`ll keep ot to `him` and if it turns out be a her, well it includes her too!

The tutorial is going to force you to complete as it`s the only way to get anti-matter which you`ll need to get out of that one system and explore new ones.

You don`t craft new storage, just fly into space, land on a Station and buy a storage slot (if you have enough cash).

Anyway, glad you`re enjoying it.
