Thanks for the explanation! Unfortunately, the same result for me as with the other methods (Bottles+Galaxy, Heroic with and without Galaxy). Discovery online services working fine (green light, bases etc.) but matchmaking won't work (no other players).

Joe_Goe: You didnt try my method, right?

In Lutris, set up nms, or configure Lutris, that it points to the nms directory.
Install GOG from the '+' Lutris menu left side above with "search on lutris webpage for "gog galaxy" into a seperate folder.

Then first start GOG, then start nms over Lutris or directly from GOG Galaxy.

If it doesnt show your current save file, you have to copy from your nms installation the folder nms\drive_c\users\username\appdata\roaming\Hellogames to GOG-Galaxy\drive_c\users\username\appdata\roaming folder.

Backup the savegame folder at the beginning is maybe a good idea.

I actually only renamed the GOG-Galaxy/drive_c/users to usersold, made a symlink at my nms/drive_c/users and copied that into GOG-Galaxy/drive_c/

(sorry for the strange format, it does that by itself)

I also kept the Heroic launcher, but the update did not really work for nms, so i had to go back to my Lutris bundle, that the game did work again.
I installed GOG galaxy in Lutris, it installed and ran properly. When running game from GOG there's no people in anomaly. Discovery is online, quicksilver missions are available.

I got the same problem today again, no people at the anomaly.
I then killed all processes, what been at the taskmanager and looked llike leftovers from previous launches,
like wineserver, a lot of 'gogdl' processes.
After they been gone, i launched GOG Galaxy again, waited a few minutes, and saw some players again at the anomaly.

So maybe you need to wait a few minutes and do some other things until all connections are established.

And maybe clean up some old tasks. Lutris seems doesnt close everything proper.
I have always to stop ie Galaxy manually again, even the main window is already gone.
Well, Long story short.
Multiplayer still does not work with Lutris and 2.0.77.

I installed before a while 2.0.0.2 from this page.
https://gog-galaxy.de.uptodown.com/windows/versions

Update the game fails with it, but other people show up at the anomaly.

With the last test, i did test it first with 2.0.0.2, then with 2.0.77, seems it kept something at the ram, that it still did work.

Today i run 2.0.0.77 and nothing worked, now it does again when i run 2.0.0.2 and then start the game.
Just dont update that client, when it ask for it.

version 2.0.0.2 from your link is a web installer which installs the newest version.
You can check your gog version by going "top-left cog > settings > bottom-left of the pop-up window".

There are few standalone installers on that link. Those are proper older versions. I tried "1.2.67.58" and "2-0-30-20" - those install gog launcher properly, but I am unable to install the game.

I am not sure what you did to make it work, for me it does not work.

Hm, strange, yes, when you mentioning here.
I looked just now on the installer, and it has indeed only 1Mb.

But i see, i have another installer there Version 2.0.46.133()exe with 270mb.
Maybe its that one, what i have installed, because i can not see the version at the client.
It can be found here
https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/online_manaual_exe_file_for_gog_galaxy_2047_gog_galaxy_not_updating

You should not need to install the game. Just go to "owned games" then click at the top midle at the "+" and search for "No man's sky"
It should add it, but i cant say right now, what the exact steps are, since it is already installed.
You may look by yourself a bit around, what you can do at the top, because there is also an icon to manage the installation.
By that you should can link the game to your Galaxy client. And maybe update it by starting 2.0.77.

Edit:
Well, it seems i got it already updated.
The one what worked with Mulitplayer is 2.0.77.22-Beta,
the one what doesnt, but updates the game so far is 2.0.73.27-Beta.
Below 2.0 may do not work, because they wrote, multiplayer is only available since 2.0 and Windows 10.

I installed them both from the Lutris menu with the cross and search on Lutris Webpage for GOG Galaxy,
but selected "install from file".
If i only run the installation through Lutris, GOG Galaxy doesnt really work.

I also pause all downloads before i play the game if there are any.
Right now, i dont see other player too, but sometimes it feels like that there are no people online,
since GOG is not crossplatform into the Steam users?
But sooner or later it did always work.

Edit2
Yes. After starting the game again with 2.77.22 , loading into the anomaly, i did hear the noise of other ships,
deactivating Multiplayer and enable it again, it shows at least one player.

Since I still have an old Windows partition, I have just tried it again. When I started it with Windows, there were (Immediately) 14 other players. None from GoG, all from Steam or Consoleros (that's how I knew it before).

No, the anomaly should actually be full of people. There is crossplay. Until about the time the last expedition started, there was quite a lot going on there.

Unfortunately, I can no longer establish a (matchmaking) connection. No matter which version. And no matter how long I'm there.

Yeah. Yesterday i started Heroic again, and it complete updated the game again.
At the end, it made another update, where it only downloaded "GOG restributable".
Then i switched back to lutris and my "GOG2.0" and after loading GOG i manually started nms.
After that there been more player at the anomaly too.

I would guess, when your game works on Windows, then there are some dlls from wine missing,
And the only dll what i can see at Winetricks from my GOG installation is mfc140 (Visual C++ 2015 mfc140 library, part of vcrun2015).
Maybe you see, if you have it too, and try to switch your firewall off for a try?

Didn't work, but... today I managed to play the game with other players both with the HeroicGL (without Galaxy) and with Lutris (with Galaxy)! Well, I'm not sure if the problem in my case was sitting in front of the monitor the whole time... :D I think I had overlooked something very important:

The runner must be “Proton-GE-latest” in both cases! Otherwise online functions will work, but not the matchmaking part.

In HeroicGL I also had to manually update the "Proton-GE-latest" (see attached picture). Maybe I need to change some autoupate settings...? I'm not that familiar with the HGL yet. At the moment, however, I'm sure I'll stick with it, because you don't really need the Galaxy client here anymore.

Thanks to everyone for all the helpful hints & tips!

EDIT: Stopped working for me again after few days... :(

I got it working again, but only with Lutris + Galaxy at the moment.

I'm using the new 'UMU-Proton-9.0-3' runner for both (Galaxy & NMS)

In the configuration for NMS in Lutris I have to switch off the option 'Prefer system libraries' in the 'System settings' tab, otherwise it won't work (I can't find a way to switch Lutris to English right now, so I don't know exactly what the options are called...). I am attaching two pictures to illustrate it).

Well, anyting stopped working for me.
My Galaxy, what worked, updated the game only to a certain point, lets say 5.10.
As i configured Heroic, it updated the game afterwards with some 8GB, i assume to 5.12.

Then i i dfid run the game again with Lutris, my 2.0.73 Galaxy seems downgraded the game again to 5.10?
and after that my 500h save showed as corrupt.
After some days, i installed Galaxy again with the webinstaller and Lutris with "Install from a local file",
it was then again 2.077, it updated the game again with some 8GB, and my save finally works again.
I only lost my settlement by that.
Pretty unlogical that all, because it seems Heroic and Galaxy look at GOG for updates.
But the Anomaly dont work anymore.
I had before 2Galaxy Clients installed, 2.0.73, where no Multiplayer worked, but the game downgrade to a lower version,
2.0.77, where updates for what ever reason did not work, but i did see people at the Anomaly.
Now i got both at V. 2.0.77, and nothing works, only normal gameplay.
I got Proton-QT also installed, where you can manage wine and Proton Versions too, but i tried a few now, and not one let me see people at the Anomaly.
That new Umu 9.03 breaks with an error in Lutris, at Heroic the game works, only no Multiplayer again but right now is there an update for Manjaro, which i use as OS,
but for some users it breaks all her games. I will wait a decent time, before i touch this upgrade or reinstall things.
Sometimes it really feels like that some programmers read all that and fk around afterwards with things.

RIght now i play, as i did the whole time before, with wine-ge-8-26.
And well, once earlier, it worked again after a while, maybe it only needs some reset from some settings again.

Nice hint to turn off system liberaries.
It worked for me too, just, i got no audo then at the game.
I also use the liberaries at Galaxy, and can use any runner i want, it doesnt change something.
So it seems, its a problem from the gameinstallion, not Galaxy, that Multiplayer doesnt work proper.
Maybe i can find the next days a little bit more.

I am not affected by this sound problem. I think that's something else. Could it be that you are using the Flatpak Lutris version and it doesn't have the necessary permissions or something like that? Maybe check with Flatseal? I'm not using the Flatpak version of Lutris this time.

You are right about the configuration of the Galaxy runner. It can also run with system libraries.
It seems to work for me, using the flatpak version of bottles (currently at version 51.13) on Garuda Linux.
I am running No Man's Sky 5.22 via Galaxy version 2.0.77.22 in it and can see other players in the anomaly (screenshots attached).
But the anomaly is often empty directly after starting the game. it can take several minutes until others become visible.

Proton was not needed, soda seems to be sufficient.
corefonts, vcredist2019 and gecko were installed as dependencies.
