Will NMS support Joystick/HOTAS controls on PC?
No official news on the joystick support to date. Not sure how a joystick/hotas setup would work given:
1.) You will eventually be walking on planets. Not sure how easy that would be with a joystick
2.) Sony is pretty draconian as far as 3rd party peripherals requiring an authentication chip to work with a PS4 (i.e. there is no joystick that works with a PS4 to my knowledge) so given the PS4 version doesn't support one yet, the PC version may not either.

I'm doubtful about the sophistication of HOTAS being supported (space combat appears to be just front lasers and very arcade like), but I have no doubt that gamepads will be supported. Gamepads are completely supported on the PC (I have an XBOX 360 wireless gamepad on my PC) so there would be no reason for gamepads in NMS not to be supported on the PC. I fully expect it to be like GTA V or Just Cause 3 where I run/gun with the mouse/keyboard and fly/drive with the gamepad.
Its coming to PS4 with rumored VR support so i would assume they would want to cover there bases and have at least basic joystick support. The PS4 controller has all the features a flight rig does, so it makes sense.
I doubt it will have joystick support, but I'm not sure.

IMHO, I'd rather play this with a controller. I do have a joystick, but this game also required you to walk around outside of your ship, which is kinda hard with a joystick.

I'm assuming the flight mechanics will also be a bit more arcadey than something like Elite Dangerous, so a controller might feel a bit more natural.
