The Eissentam galaxy system at Portal coordinates 40FC 024C 14EF has a pair of planets that are partially joined. Interesting place to explore.

Strongly recommend making a manual save before attempting!

Interesting, but it's a glitch, surely not intended by design. Instead of a manual savegame I would backup my savegame folder because the effects on gameplay and your savegames are unpredictable.

Whoa, that's very interesting. Has anyone tried landing there and walking around? Does one planet clip the other, or do you just step across to the new world? Or, does the game crash?
I did a flyby but didn't land. It's still waiting for the daring Traveler to explore its mysteries! ;-)

OTOH, I did find a system where two planets are only about 10K units apart. They seem to be at about the distance (at the closest point) where the usual asteroid field would appear. I did land on the one on the left, not intentionally but that's the system the portal coordinates dropped me off at, so imagine my surprise. Not Euclid or Eissentam, it's in (forget the name) galaxy down the chain a little farther.

It seems that the physical laws in NMS are different :)
I found a hot planet were even the water would burn sometimes.
