Herrick: Where do you go to get Multitools from aliens? Are they in the Outposts?

Edit: I meant from talking to Aliens. I've done this a couple times but I don't remember if I went to an Outpost or an Observatory.
If an alien offers you the choice between help with the environment or help with sentinels, choose sentinels - that's usually a multitool upgrade. The other option for environment usually gives an exosuit blueprint.
I've gone though quite a few multitool upgrades, now in 16 slots. On my third ship, progression with starter ship, then preorder ship and now two upgrades after that, first the gullwinged red ship and now the green fighter at 19 slots.

Just now had the most surreal thing happen. I'm still in the first system, have explored quite a bit of three planets, fourth one still to go. Back at my starting planet, I decode a distress signal and take a look, yeah, that's a long way off, quarter of a hemisphere away. No matter, I blast off and fly there directly, just a couple of monolith stops along the way. I reach the place, land just on top of a cliff overlooking the crash site - and there is nothing there! Just blackened grass, no ship.

Oh and hey, why does that distress beacon have this pulsing red globe inside it...? Now wait just a second, this place looks rather too familiar by far...

YUP. The distress beacon took me back to the very starting point in the game, to my own crash site, where naturally there was no ship, since I had repaired it and flown off with it. So apparently this can be a thing too... :D

You went back to your own distress beacon! Guess you need to switch it off! :) Neat that the game tracked it.

I`m maxed out on my multi-tool now, so it`s just a case of taking the nicest looking one which I think I already have.
