Anyone know how to locate what version of the game you have? I've tried to install patches going back to 1.57 to 1.58d and every one tells me that the patch does not support your version of the game.

Am I going to have to use a new installer, and if so is there anyway I can bring a saved game over?

Thanks for any help!

If you're running GoG Galaxy the version shows up on the game screen. I couldn't find an embedded human-readable version stamp in the executable (bad, bad HG).

As far as I'm aware, installing the game won't in and of itself mess up or overwrite your saved game files. If the saved games were from a newer version than the one you're installing then there may be issues, of course.

It's not a bad idea to make periodic backups C:\Users\YourNameHere\AppData\Roaming\HelloGames\NMS\DefaultUser.

Some additional notes:

1. Galaxy will only list the highest version installed. I confirmed this with GOG when I did a temporary update to NEXT but then rolled back but Galaxy showed that I was still on 1.52 even after I had returned back to 1.38.

2. The patches are intended to only go from and then to the version listed while using off-line installers. For example - if you had 1.54 installed and then tried run the patch to bring your game to 1.58d there might be file changes missing or that are incompatible and the patch would not support your version of the game.
