Version 3.05, Build 64966, has been released. Release notes in the Changelog thread but the two biggest items that I noted are:

•Fixed an issue that could cause aquatic fauna to be listed as “extinct” when discovered.
•Fixed an issue that could occasionally prevent creatures from spawning where or as often they should.
My update is failing at 96% "executing setup"! Very annoying!

Interesting. Exactly this has happened to me today. ("Discovered an aquatic animal, saw it as extinct in the discovery log, killed the animal to keep the discovery documentation in order.")

Almost a month after the supposed update and fix. Would my game not be updated (nms.exe file modification date - 2020-11-11, file version 108.0.0.0), or was the fix not perfect? Has anyone else experienced it?

I have several times, including this evening. Reported it to HG on their bug tracker when I first encountered it, along with screen shots of the "green dotted" animal (a water crab) and the discovery list that showed it as being "extinct."

So, there's still a glitch in the Atlas I guess.

The current build is 65644 and is the Next Generation Update to version 3.10. Take a look in the lower right corner when launching.

If you are using Galaxy with autoupdating enabled then you should be current. If using Galaxy with autoupdate disabled then there should be an update button after first launching Galaxy.

If you are running this offline then you would have to download and run the offline update patch or download and install the full game.

Have also had this with swimming cows and another planet where three different underwater crab species were all extinct. Thought it was strange to see more than one but they all scanned separately, gave a reward, did not say "duplicate species" and all were so close together that I did not see the "extinct" until after all three had scanned.

That said I have also had some recent occurrences where the crabs and swimming cows were not labeled as extinct. so I was able to get to 100%.

I do not know if anyone has been able to complete all fauna discoveries with one (or more) extinct species but I have not been able to do so so I tend to give up, at least eventually. That is partially based upon having read others reporting an inability to complete 100% once the extinct bug kicks in but have tried a few times.

I have submitted a couple of tickets on this as well.

Thanks! This is exactly the version that I have.

I suspected that something could maybe have reverted my update, because I remembered that one of the recent changelogs was mentioning Quicksilver to be lootable from derelict freighters, and I have seen it in action, but recently I could not find any more of it.

Sadly, it looks like the Quicksilver thing was just for a couple of weeks :(

afaik this was added only during the "Halloween update" (3.05).
I'm still playing the 3.05 version and can collect quicksilver from the derelict freighters. I think i will stay for a while with this version, cause it runs pretty stable and next Gen did not add very much new (current state). And i can't play with my pc on high settings anyway :)
