I noticed that while HG has made landings easier to land anywhere (something I never had an issue with), now my ship will sometimes land with its nose or wing right inside a building. I had a feeling it might cause problems, but brushed it off...

Well Just now I went for a landing near to a building ruin and noticed that my ship landing almost all in the ruin.

1. First problem I had was when I jumped out my ship I could hardly move anywhere cos I was still `in` the building! But boosting up got me out.

I did a bit of mining then jumped back into my ship to problem no. 2....

2. When I tried taking off my ship was jerking and spasming about and I saw my ship getting rapidly damaged. It was beeping and all that stuff. It was still being registered as `in` the building. So I was now colliding with that building. I struggled with the controls trying to keep up, but then decided to land again...

That did the trick. The ship re-orientated itself away from the building on re-landing... When I launched there was no problem, except I`d lost one part of my ship health.

Thinking back, it was kinda cool, like in those sci-fi movies when the pilot is fighting to keep control of his ship as it gets damaged in a perilous situation. Though Hello Games didn`t design it that way! lol!

So remember, Goggers, don`t try to fight it, just re-land and it should fix itself.

Thanks for the tip. I've been landing partially inside buildings recently, too. Luckily only a wing tip and no troubles taking off. It's good to know that just re-landing sorted things out. I'll keep that in mind...

If it happens again, try to "summon" the ship to a safe lace using the quick menu. Shouldn't take any more fuel than a launch-land-launch cycle and might avoid additional damage. Not as dramatic, of course, but occasionally one has had quite enough drama for one session... ;-)

Thanks. But don`t you have to be at some site to do that? I was on an Extreme hot planet and my suit wouldn`t have lasted me searching around for a building that would have one of those landing pads.
No. Just use the quick menu. Never did that before...? You can summon any of your (up to 6) ships anywhere, it just costs them launch fuel.

Whoa. I never knew you could do that.

Cheers.
Pssst. Get a Hauler with big inventory and recharging launch thrusters. Free supply drops anywhere, whenever you need something! Found a pod with inventory slot upgrade? Just call in your supply hauler, fix it up out of inventory you have on there, and you're good to go =D

And don't forget to install and upgrade the scanner in your Exocraft. Summon it, scan for Drop Pods, hop into your ship, fly over, get inventory slots. Repeat, until the scanner starts ponting to Drop Pods you've allready visited.

After that, scan for Abandoned Buildings (the terminals reward up to 150 Nanites), repeat as above.

I routinely leave planets with +3 inventory slots, and > +400 Nanites. Sometimes even more Nanites or even S Class upgrade modules by spending a few minutes repairing broken machinery in the immedieate surroundings.

Also, I use the Colossus as storage. It provides 42 slots (minus any tech installed) and it only costs Salvaged Data (from Burried Technology Modules) and a few mats for the Colossus Geobay or the Exocraft Summoning Station.

I prefer the Exocraft Summoning Station, since it let's me summon any Exocraft I have. Plus: Build it, call all Exos you plan on using on the planet just once, deconstruct the ESS, getting all materials back and now you're able to just summon any Exo anywhere on the planet :)
